Giantbomb has a half-hour long quicklook with the game. It's pretty entertaining and is just from the very beginning of the game, so no big spoilers present. Some amusing conversation, too: www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-splatterhouse/17-3529/Might be way late to the party on this one but I think this is bar none the most bloody game to be made so far, like, holy shit. It sort of takes the wanton carnage to a new level of juvenile glee (and I dig it, like Evil Dead 2 and the bloody geysers and stuff).

So far, I really like it. Also, Biggy's a total pain in the ass.

Due to being poor, I won't be able to get Splatterhouse until at Christmas as a gift. So, everyone... let me know EVERYTHING that you think about it. I want to know what to look forward to and what to be cautious of, basically.

Scan from the manual: ...that's not 100% accurate, though. I had to fix something. Like I said earlier in the thread, Dan Tovar emailed me a week or so back to personally apologize to me, because they actually misspelled my last name and he didn't catch it before the game went out to be manufactured. It reads "Stangman" in the credits, both in-game and in the manual. *shrug* But hey, a misspelled credit is better than no credit at all. So what you're seeing there is how it should look, not how it actually looks. Here's where it is in the manual: Also, the second name listed there is sotenga.

With my name actually spelled correctly somehow. Most people give it two t's. I am pleased to see that this is not the case. ;D

So far, I really like it. Also, Biggy's a total pain in the ass. Ditto. I just fell into yet another portal after the kinda shantytown stage... I still have yet to totally understand the combat (too many modifiers), but it satisfies exactly what I wanted it to. Despite how confusing it can get the combat is pretty fun; the bits of 2D platforming are also all kinds of awesome and homages to the originals, in spite of the wacky jumping when you're on the edge of a platform. So is the 3D platforming, which is usually just that- jumping, with the occasional automatic bit, but even then at least it's snappy and doesn't get all cinematic and drawn out. My main complaints so far are some really bizarre graphical glitches, the needless extraneous button modifiers, and the lack of choice you have in the Splatterkill system (I've already got the guy, why can't I just pull him apart any which way I choose?). And also yet a-fucking-gain, just like Lords of Shadow, this is another example where the producers hype up that it has no QTEs, and there end up being tons in the game. But don't let this dissuade you, I'm not quite a quarter done with it and I've lost count of awesome horror (and just plain Splatterhouse fan-service) moments. It's also turning out to be far more disturbing than I thought it would be, though it still has a tongue-in-cheek humor about it. Jim Cummings as the Terror Mask is terribly lolz and all around awesome.

The game gets much better once you start upgrading your skills. I also like how you can either choose to regenerate your health with the blood meter or use a special move depending on the situation. The voice acting is not that good but maybe it was intentional to be campy. I'm at about the 8th phase so far and started playing on the hardest difficulty. Its a challenging game as the enemies can kill you in a couple hits. The camera can sometimes start you in combat where you cant see the enemies but at least the game gives you the option to control the camera. The game does reward you for keeping a combo as it fills your skill points meter up faster. Even if you dont like this 2010 update then you can play the 3 classic games although you need to progress all the way through 8 chapters in order to unlock all 3 of them. Still a pretty solid game and I cant wait to finish it.

As long as it's a term of endearment, Ikey-poo~ ... now, census: Was that amusing, what I just said? Or just plain fucking creepy?

Not at all, this is 2010. There's nothing creepy about a man poking his penis inside another man's butthole.

I have to admit, I don't get that. Maybe their idea of a QTE is different than anyone else's idea of a QTE? The voice acting is not that good but maybe it was intentional to be campy. The way I was told, it was. Even if you dont like this 2010 update then you can play the 3 classic games although you need to progress all the way through 8 chapters in order to unlock all 3 of them. To anyone that wants it but hasn't bought or preordered yet: go to Best Buy while you still can, the first run they get contains an exclusive early unlock for the classic trilogy.

Still bugs the crap out of me though; QTEs need to be put in the fucking grave already.

No, I think they were probably overdone even then.
They were a novelty when Dragon's Lair came out.
