Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I read of a rumor that the Sonic the Hedgehog comics by Archie Comics has been cancelled after 20 some years.

My understanding is that it hasn't been *officially* cancelled, but it's on "indefinite hiatus" and the resumes of a lot of the staff are showing up at other companies.

So, has anyone read the Godzilla comics from IDW? They are pretty fun, but recently, Matt Frank, an artist who has done work on the Godzilla comics, revealed a teaser for his next project: Godzilla struck down by a cross spear, is it a sequel to Godzilla In Hell, perhaps? No, absolutely not, in fact, notice the Tsuburaya Productions part on the bottom!!!! For those who do not know, Tsuburaya is the studio where freaking Ultraman was created, and yes, while the original Ultraman did not use a lance, there has been some who used them, like Ultraman Jack, but that's not his spear either. Instead, it seems that instead of taking the chance to do a freaking Godzilla VS Ultraman crossover that i have no doubt many Kaiju fans would love to read, they picked another hero of Tsuburaya, the legendary Redman, who came from a series of shorts where monsters, mostly Ultraman ones, are just randomly walking around and this guy calling himself Redman arrives and they both start fighting with a really low budget: I mean, really? Only people really interested in Japanese Superheroes or Kaijus would know about Redman, he isn't exactly a very known and popular character, hell, i think this is Redman's first appearance in anything since the 70's as Tsuburaya didn't seem that interested in bringing him back, and yet, he apparently will be in a comic crossover before any Ultraman, go figure. Still, i guess it's easy to justify the crossover, if you see the videos, you realize that Redman isn't exactly afraid of fighting anything that comes his way. But yeah, holy shit, i did not expect Redman to ever come back, much less in a western comic where he fights freaking Godzilla.

The only IDW series I'm following are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers MTMTE/The Lost Light, but that Godzilla art looks undoubtely good... Anyway, it's somewhat comforting that even Charles M. Shulz was weirded out by US political cartoonists' tendency to label everything. A much less comforting fact is that this strip is almost 60 years old, though.

I've enjoyed what I've read of IDW's Ghostbusters, though I'm not a fan of them recycling plots from the Real Ghostbusters show.

IDW's Godzilla series are just about the only thing I do follow of theirs. Would like to get into Mars Attacks, but not really sure about the quality there. A lotta there stuff does look really good.

IDW did those god awful Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania comics. With that in mind, I'm not keen on giving them another chance.

Come to think of it, the Dead Rising: Road to Fortune comic from IDW was decent. It was an interquel between DR1 and 2 written by a fan of the games. The only other IDW comics I have are 30 Days of Night and the early Silent Hill comics. Ironically, I think I became a fan of Ben Templesmith's art because of the latter, which got me into the former and other comics that Templesmith worked on. So it wasn't all bad. I was kind of hyped/scared of the first SH comic because it came out right after SH3. I should review my video game comics and manga for my blog... You know what game manga REALLY sucked? The DMC3 manga, because it made Dante a petulant asshole. Actual dialog from Dante: "And I want a smaller dick, but I guess we're both assed out, huh?" Who let the teenage edgelord adapt this thing into English?

Those Silent Hill comics are total garbage.
The only thing I know about IDW is that intentionally hideous artstyle they would use for all their comics, I don't know if they still do that though.
