HOLY SHIT! So this is the WORST one? Jesus, I'm in for a ride tomorrow, oh Smithee's gonna eat some cake! Depends on who you talk to. Although Last Crusade is a better movie overall, Temple of Doom is bar none my favorite, aside from the blonde chick. I will say that Temple of Doom "feels" different than the other movies, which is probably why it's maligned by so many people...that, and I'd bet half the people bitching about it/making fun of it haven't even watched it, sort of like "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (which is one of the best Bond films if you actually watch it instead of listening to everyone else bitch about it because they heard someone else bitch about it, who bitched about it because Sean Connery wasn't in it). Temple of Doom actually had a decent villain; Mola Ram the crazy cult leader was a hell of a lot cooler and more interesting than the smug frenchmen, nerdy german, and generic nazis that populate the series...it's like they were an afterthought, and the "real" villains were the boulder and other traps. Also, if Kate Capshaw (who was fucking Spielberg, which is the only explanation of her presence in the movie) could be removed from TOD, it would be the perfect movie. Then again, like the lame villains, boring or bitchy women seem to be a hallmark of the series (I chalk up my dislike of the standoffish and bitchy Marian to my lack of enthusiasm for the first movie).

That is the reason why I could not stand the Silver Surfer cartoon. Everyone and I mean any being that had any spoken lines talked like they were reading a poem. No one talked like that in the real world, not even the pseudo intellect seekers or the gifted kid talks like the people had here. There are supposed to be many alien life forms in space, yet they all sounded the same to me minus few verbal quirks. It was wasted hours thanks to that end NICE! Yeah, it was like watching a Tarantino or Kevin Smith film (or reading a comic by Brian Michael Bendis) where EVERYONE TALKS THE SAME, and nobody talks like they would in real life....instead, they're mouthpieces for the writer, talking the way they talk when they're at a bar or something.

Yeah, I thought that Marian was a total bitch. God, Harrison Ford's characters always have the weirdest romances... And Willie was a bitch too. The women in the series kinda piss me off, although I will say that Marian was way more attractive.
I saw it, I can't remember the ending anymore, even though I just saw it last night. I'm like that.
It was pretty cool though, I think I totally liked Temple of Doom better, actually.

Just watched Lupin the III "The Castle of Cagliostro." The over-the-topness of this series amuses me. I need to try to find another movie of it.
Of course, it is very interesting to see Miyazaki working on it, as it's definitely more akin to Nausicaa or even Princess Mononoke in the age-group it's meant for, compared to his more for kid's movies like Ponyo or Totoro.

3 good one's in the past week.
Die Hard 4 - Nice actions scenes, Bruce Willis was excellent and overall pretty good movie. The only thing that bothered me was the plot. I mean, last time we had terrorists taking over a building, dangerous situation at the airport (with several planes at the sky) and bombs all over the New York. Now.....someone wants to crash the whole USA economy with the internet.
Also, I was hoping for a explosion at the end, in the style of second movie. Nope. Just some trick shooting.
V for Vendetta - This one was cool. Saw it before on TV and it was nice to get the DVD. Dont care how faithful comic adaptation it is, its friggin awesome even on its own.
Day of the Dead - My god....that was beatiful. Loved the main villain (If you can call Rhodes that) and this was a first time when I felt sympathy for a zombie! Highly recommend this to anyone who loves zombie-flicks.

I'll either watch Kill Bill Vol. 1, or go for one of my favourites, Night of the Living Dead and proceed to give my thoughts on whichever I have chosen.

Just got back from seeing the Nightmare on Elm Street remake with my dad and brother. Man, they made Freddy really gross... I guess they wanted to steer away from the "Wile E. Coyote" type Freddy that the old movies made him into. Though I love that Freddy of old, the guy they got to play him in this one was recommended by Robert Englund himself, and it shows. Cool movie, if a bit, well, predictable.
Also saw the trailer for Resident Evil Afterlife. Looks monumentally stupid. Paul Anderson just needs to admit that he wants to make The Matrix but with more BEWBZ. I've only seen the first two; I guess eventually I'll see the third one and this one purely for lolz.

This movie had three strikes against it from the outset. 1: Rated PG-13 instead of R 2: The "Mac" guy was in it 3: Willis took down a helicopter by vaulting a car at it, and said, "I ran out of bullets." Everything else was just turd frosting on a poop cake.

There's a proper, R rated version out there I've heard, where he actually finishes his line.
I saw Kill Bill Vol. 1, and it got a lot of physical responses out of me, in the good way. My brother said it was called something like body genres that I like? Well, if Kill Bill is one of those, I guess I like them (along with Takashi Miike another favourite director). Basically, I was totally sweating and tense at the moments in the movie. The pacing was sex in a can, I need to get the other part.
(I'd love to see a total animated series like the anime segment)

The first Kill Bill was pretty good, but the second one was a let down. There was one really funny scene in the second one, but that's about it. It's sort of like the difference between Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions.

I'd still like to see the ending of a saga, regardless.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't watch it. I'm the same with with a lot of stuff. Once I start a series, I have to see it through to the end, regardless of quality. That's why I watched Live Free or Die Hard in the first place.

Live Free or Die Hard unrated is the only way to watch it. There's a lot more blood, IIRC, and he curses waaaay more. It goes a long way towards feeling like a Die Hard movie.

I could be seeing Salo tonight but tickets are a tad pricey and I've got no one to really go with, plus I've already seen it.
Quite liked it though.
