You're welcome. Black Sign is an RPG by the indie developer Dreamcard. There was a little information about it in the History of Korean Gaming articles, but I can't find it now because of the server change. A lot of games mentioned on those pages are still not available for download and Black Sign was one of them until I stumbled upon it on Gmarket.

Anyone have a copy of 보보와 친구들 (Bobo-wa Chingudeul) / Bobo & Friends? Still can't find a copy of this game on Youtube, Google or any forum. My childhood memory.

I've come into possession of a Hicom Entertainment press kit CD from 1999, I struggled to find many mentions of the games anywhere (not even MobyGames?) apart from here so I assume this will be of interest to at least someone here, it contains 345MB of artwork and demos from some FEW games (Busters, Dragon Lord, Dragon Raja, Action RPG Dice) and released/unreleased Corum games (Corum 3, Corum: Generation of Descendants and Corum 4) by Hicom. That's pretty much all I know. I've made 300 DPI scans of the press kit booklet and CD and also uploaded the contents of the CD to mega. Contents zip file (345MB): mega.nz/#!VNZVEAiR!RAHjMCW18XNeROMSrVec3NA3mKWfUxeipFzuyTkejp8 Hopefully this helps someone!

Dropping in this thread yet again. Yet another one of those things where I was just looking stuff up randomly only to uncover new info on a Korean game that I don't believe ever has been covered in English. This time, it's about a particular Danbi 2002 arcade and PC game called Office Yeoin Cheonha / Office Women Power (which can be rendered either "Office 女人天下" in a Latin script and Korean hanja mix or "오피스 여인천하" in Korean hangul) The game is basically a Bishi Bashi clone, that much is known among the few English speakers here and the one MAME dev (Luca Elia) who tries to crack that game and make its emulation accurate. But looking up the Korean title uncovers a whole lot more info on its origins. The game is actually quite similar to an earlier Japanese Konami/Success-made 2000 arcade and PS1 game called Salary Man Champ: Tatakau Salary Man (サラリーマンチャンプ たたかうサラリーマン), itself a spin off of Bishi Bashi that focuses on playing as Japanese salarymen employees as they go through workplace-related fast paced minigames. Office Yeoin Cheonha only gender flipped this concept to focus on Korean female workers. But it goes much deeper than the cloning of gameplay and themes. Looking further, it turns out that Danbi actually stole assets from the Salaryman Champ game. Office Yeoin Cheonha rips tracks from the Salaryman Champ OST, and graphics from it too. This is most noticeable when the playable characters of Salaryman Champ actually make "cameo" appearances in Office Yeoin Cheonha with their sprites virtually unchanged. Office Yeoin Cheonha isn't actually a 1:1 copy or reskinned hack of Salaryman Champ, as both games use vastly different arcade hardware from each other ( Salaryman uses PS1-based Konami System 573 arcade hardware, while Yeoin Cheonha uses the Brezzasoft Crystal System 2D hardware), but the similarities make it seem like so. It should be noted that unlike most Bishi Bashi series games, Salaryman Champ was never released in South Korea, or indeed outside of Japan or localized in a non-Japanese language for that matter, but somehow one of Danbi's employees got ahold of the game somehow and used more than just mere "inspiration" to make their own similarly-themed game. My sources: - A popular TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) video of the PS1 port of Salaryman Champ- A Korean "let's play" complete playthrough of Office Yeoin Cheonha- Korean-language Namuwiki page of Office Yeoin Cheonha (its Google Translate'd contents brought my attention to the plagiarism issue to begin with)- Korean dongA.com article of lots of old mostly Japanese arcade "party" games (scroll down or ctrl-F to 오피스 여인천하 section)In fact, the Namuwiki page and dongA.com article has said that Konami might have possibly attempted to sue Danbi for copyright infringement and asset stealing over Office Yeoin Cheonha, but this claim has yet to be verified. It wouldn't be too surprising though, as it wouldn't be the only time that Konami Japan has sued Korean game developers for daring to sell games similar to their popular (mostly Bemani-related) products. Still, this unsourced claim needs to be verified in some way (maybe through the Seoul court system records or something?) The dongA.com article does actually bring up a few interesting comparison images between Salaryman Champ and Office Yeoin Cheonha that solidifies the plagiarism claims even more ( Office Yeoin Cheonha left, Salaryman Champ right) This topic might need to be investigated further for more details. As of now, the arcade version of Office Yeoin Cheonha is currently on MAME albeit with incomplete emulation(?), and a download of the PC version might be around in the dark corners of the Korean internet somewhere, so it might be interesting to look into either versions' hidden files through hacking tools for unused content hidden within the game's code or something, just to see to what extent the Salaryman Champ plagiarism ends.

www.gamechosun.co.kr/webzine/article/view.php?no=15655This Game Chosun news item from 2003 reports the Korea branch of Konami Marketing (Asia) Ltd hitting several arcades in Busan with cease and desist notices to remove Office Women Power machines, to which the arcades agreed to comply. It also talks about how the Seoul District court has declared Danbi guilty of IP infringement in August the year before. (Doesn't specify if that was a Konami - Danbi lawsuit, and it's vague whether it was even about this game, but it seems plausible given the 2003 part of the story, and the obvious infringement present)

I've come to say Hi, and I happen to have a Chinese release of 도깨비 방망이 (Dokkaebi Bangmangi), which is on the list, but missing: Here is the "box" (barely a jewel case) art: In case you wonder what it's called in Chinese, it's 超级怪精灵 (Chaoji Guaijingling, literally "Super Eccentric Wizard").
