Just to dispell any rumors that you may have heard about it being cancelled. KOF NeoWave will be available in all EB Games/Gamestop stores tomorrow or Wednesday at latest.
Local independent stores should have their copies in already, as shipments went out last week. EB/Gamestop were retarded and delayed the release.
Don't forget to check and see if you can snag a Fatal Fury hat as well.

Neowave is really disappointing. It's 2002 with a gloss of paint, and not a particularly shiny one at that. I mean, it loads in between fights and stops the music - that hasn't been a problem since the DC version of 98. It's no big deal because the music sucks anyway. There aren't even any win quotes either.
It's really a lot of minor stuff, but considering you can get 02/03 together as a pack - and 03 is definitely my favorite KoF - that's definitely the better value. Even if you really like 02, it's just really redundant, except for the addition of Young Geese.

Ever since I first heard of it, I really hoped that it would offer at least one significant thing new from KoF2002... Young Geese doesn't quite cut it. *sigh* Aw well... thanks anyway. I still have to get 02/03 for me XBOX. ... on that note, should I also get 00/01 for the PS2? KoF'00 is one of my favorites in the series... 01 is not.

Buy Guilty Gear XX Slash instead (which is out by the way).

The soundtrack is out, check out www.gamemp3s.net for a torrent. It seems okay but didn't really leave an impression on me. Then again, I've only given it a quite listen. I wish they'd go back to the styles from 96 and 00. Two of the best fighting games soundtracks ever (at least, that don't have "Guilty" and "Gear" in the title.) I'm not so sure if GG Slash is worth a purchase. I hated ABA in Isuka and a palette swapped Sol with some new moves isn't too appealing either. I'd grab it for $20 if they localized it though.

Weren't '02 and '03 released in a two-pack for XBox and PS2? I'd rather get that than NeoWave, now that I think of it...

Order Sol is completely new character, just like Realod's Robo Ky Anyway, Slash is really worth it if you are a serious competitive GG player

It's such a dissapointment to hear Neowave is just a remake of 2002.
On another note, does anyone know where I can get a wallscroll of the Japanese cover art?

I'm still gonna pick up NeoWave if only to demonstrate to SNK that I want the to keep releasing games in the US. That is my feeling as well. I bought the Xbox release of SS5 even though I already own the Japanese PS2 one. It is only $20 after all, so even though it's nothing special, at least it's cheap.

Remake of 2002 isn't totally accurate. It's more a remake of '98 if anything. The gameplay system and such is literally KoF'98 but faster and with newer characters added.
Also it's well worth the $19.99 for young Geese Howard. The only other game he's in is as a hidden boss in Art of Fighting 2. You have to beat the game without losing a round to fight him.
I do wish the win quotes and such made it though. Curses.

I don't mean to beat on a dead horse but... I read in an SNK forum that the real reason Sony of America would not 2D SNK games on PS2 was because they thought $40 was too high a price for a 2D game. They wanted 2D games to be sold at price like $20 or in compilations. Now if this is true, are you telling me SNK is allowing KOF Neowave to appear on the Xbox for $20 but not the PS2?
Anyway I've decided to pick up Neowave even though I don't have an Xbox.
