X68K roms aren't hard to find, in fact Emuparadise have them. Now if you're looking for more underground stuff (X1, FM7, etc), good luck.

Can't believe nobody mentioned www.romnation.net, it offers a pretty vast choice of roms for MAME, 8 and 16-bit systems and many roms and emulators even for extremely obscure systems such as SAM Coupé and Oric. Hm, too bad that it seems now ROMs can't longer be accessed... oh well, I still used it for 7 years or so and I wondered how could it resist...

Well, how long Emuasylum resisted anyway?

I don't have any to recommend, but one website you should definitely avoid downloading from is www.coolrom.com. that website infected my computer so badly i couldn't fix it myself and had to pay a professional to clean it for me. They offer a lot of Hack games and other stuff that are rarely found anywhere, which makes me really want to go there, but the thought of all those malware and viruses stop me.

Is there a chance that some of the info in this thread is out of date, too?

Planetemu is a French site that I've always been wary to share because I didn't want it taken down.

Is there a chance that some of the info in this thread is out of date, too? The difference is most of these sites are still up, and roms/ISO's, aside from M.A.M.E.'s, don't typically change, or become outdated. Even when they do, sites often update to reflect that. Although, I have to wonder if the thread title isn't an oxymoron, all things considered.

Most of the time, the French terms for things tend to be spelled quite similarly to the English terms. About the only thing you'd probably want to know ahead of time is that "Telecharger" is their word for "download."

I figured that out in 2000 I use Emuparadise and the Isozone for almost everything... never had a problem with either

^I'd still recommend you use PlanetEmu, if you keep up with M.A.M.E. at all. It gets up to date with the changes in M.A.M.E.s roms/BIOS's faster than any of the other sites.

I like Planetemu's selection of computer games. Admittedly, they're missing a lot of the Japanese computers, but for Atari, Amiga, and C64 stuff they can't be beaten. Especially Amiga games, where they actually have a small handful of games pre-installed to hardfiles so you don't need to mess with floppy swapping.

emu-land.net is still a great site when coming to downloading roms and emulators. Constantly updating, stable working, no ads, captcha or countdowns when downloading stuff, search is working great. It's in Russian, but navigation is easy enough to understand for foreigners to comfortably use it.
