EB Games / Gamestop are going to stop stocking PS1 and N64 games within the next month. So go forth and grab as much stuff as you need before you can't get it anywhere.

I've already got a sizeable collection of PS1 stuff (got the original Rayman for PS1 for $3.00, WarHawk for $2, and Heart of Darkness for $5). I ought to go back and look at them again and see if I can't score some gold whilst looking for Phoenix Wright and company.

Aw, Christ. That's... that's all I can say. Welp, guess I better head on down to the mall over the weekend.

'Way ahead of you. I'm basically covered for that generation, save a few N64 games. Of course, I'll end up wanting more games anyway...
Are you sure this is set to happen?

Meh. There's not much in the way of PSX games in my area. Most of them are throw aways like 10 Pin Alley and Loaded.

Yeah, there aren't any N64 games I want, and the PSOne sections is most Gamestops are either so poorly maintained or so bare that they're not worth going through. The annoying thing is, instead of liquidating them, they'll probably just ship everything back to a warehouse somewhere, or just stick them in select stores.

Gamestop and Game stopped stocking N64 stuff over here about4 or so years ago- its a good thing I have almost everything of worth then As for the PS1 stuff, well they still stock them here for the time being but Kurt you said it about over there, its so badly maintained they may as well not bother- even the halfway decent games have cracked cases/no booklets/covers/wrecked cds. The last second hand game I bought from Gamestop was Castlevania:Symphony of the Night- for about £7/$12 I already had a copy so you can imagine the profit I made on that- it being a UK copy and such

Wow, they're a lot quicker to eliminate PS1/N64 than they were to get rid of NES/Genesis/SNES/etc. Even though the 360 is out, I still view N64/PS1 as just the last generation.
But, yeah, their PS1 and N64 sections have really been declining in the last year or two, and that is something that's been consistent in every GameStop I've visited. I haven't bought a N64 game at a GameStop in a VERY long time (although I did find some nice deals at an EB last summer), and it was probably last summer when I bought any PlayStation games too.
GameStop and EB as a whole just suck these days. I pass by a GameStop every day I go to school, and I haven't bothered to go in in months. I think the last time I've bought anything from them was in the Fall to get We Love Katamari and a couple used PS2/GC games (and even those sections are pretty sorry).
Similarly, my bro-in-law has been getting really frustrated with them when it comes to buying brand new games. He'll go in the day or day after a release of an ordinary game (that is, nothing hugely in demand nor extremely obscure), and they'll refuse to sell it to him because he has no pre-order even though they have a ton in stock (I'm sure more than enough to cover any pre-orders they still haven't filled).

Local EBs here in Australia haven't had PS1 games (apart from pre owns and even those are rare) in ages. If I want a PS1 game these days, I have to rely on pawn stores or ebay.

I think I have pretty much everything I want to get for the PSX and N64, if not through me, than through my girlfriend who has a few choice games I want to really sink into (both Lunars, Parasite Eve, Legend of Mana, etc). Now if only I could get my hands on the first two Suikodens.

Kinda sad that they're stopping with the PS1 games. Even though the used section is usually picked clean of all the quality. Not at all peeved about the N64. . .since there weren't much more than 20 games worth getting on the console.
