I just wanted to know a few questions about some random games, such as... Tales of Phantasia: I've heard good about this one... is the GBA port that has been brought over to America the same as the SNES version that never made it over here? The Godfather: Is this a worthy game and a suitable homage to one of the greatest movies ever, or is it little more than a GTA ripoff? Final Fantasy Origins/Dawn of Souls: Should I get the PS1 version or the GBA version? Which one is more recommended? I'm sorta leaning towards Dawn of Souls myself... ICO: Should I get this game ASAP? I've heard nothing but innovative goodness of it. Super Princess Peach: I don't know much about this one, but it seems like an enterprising concept... can anyone tell me a bit more about SPP? Sorry to come off as a bit of a pest, but I know that you guys contain more knowledge about games than I do. I am always learning.

It's actually closer to the PSX "Remix" version from what I've heard, though it's divided between the two. I haven't played it myself, but from what I've heard, it's better if you're not expecting GTA. Plus I heard the vehicle handling isn't that good. PS1 version has better music. Outside of that, they're practically the same. Never played it myself - I'd like advice on this too. Same as above.

ToP got kinda raped, considering that the intro music was cut away, along with the ever-awesome food pack system, which got replaced by the cooking system of later games. FF Origins is very good, but what really stands out is the sound, I think it's one of the best sounding remakes ever compared to the source material. Dawn of Souls, however, has a pretty good adaptation, some extra dungeons, and Final Fantasy II along with it in a single cart! Not to mention that it's a portable full Final Fantasy.

"Tales of Phantasia: I've heard good about this one... is the GBA port that has been brought over to America the same as the SNES version that never made it over here?"
It's the same game, but it's based on the PSX version which has an unusually large character sprites that in my opinion makes the game look terrible. Also the voices are FUGLY. So if you don't mind emulation, stick with the translated SNES version.
"Final Fantasy Origins/Dawn of Souls: Should I get the PS1 version or the GBA version? Which one is more recommended? I'm sorta leaning towards Dawn of Souls myself... " "PS1 version has better music. Outside of that, they're practically the same."
Practically the same? Ya crazy? The GBA version has some pretty nice extras, namely 4 uber difficult dungeons packed with bosses from the other FF games for FF1 and a fairly long quest after you beat the game with the characters that died for FF2. If you have to pick one pick the GBA version because of the extras and zero loading time. I doubt anyone is gonna miss those awful FMV origins had.
"Super Princess Peach: I don't know much about this one, but it seems like an enterprising concept... can anyone tell me a bit more about SPP?"
If you are a fan of the Mario series you have to play it. It's very easy but it will bring you fond memories of Super Mario Bros. 2 and Mario World.

PS1 version has better music. Outside of that, they're practically the same. Not really. Dawn of Souls is heavily simplified and dumbed-down. The PS1 Origins release allows you to play with either the original difficulty or in dumbed-down mode.

No no, Tales of Phantasia for the GBA is one of the worst ports ever. They raped the script, the game is SLOW, the graphics are worse than the SNES version, they removed all the jokes, the menus are completely annoying now and the sound quality is killing the amazing soundtrack.
Play Tales of Phantasia for the SNES (with the translation), its a great game, but never come near to the GBA port.
Oh and Super Princess Peach is just mediorce. It doesn't reach half of the quality of a real Mario game.

Don't get Ico. It's a waste. Get Shadow of the Collosus though. The godfather is about 1000x better then GTA

I've heard that the script in the SNES translation of ToP was "exaggerated" by DeJap. It's a crap shoot either way.
Peach is supposed to be fun, but far too easy. You might want to just hold out until New Super Mario Brothers comes out in about a month.
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about ICO. Some people loathe it, others can't stop raving about it. I think the main issues was the control. Try to rent it, if at all possible.

I think the main issues was the control. Try to rent it, if at all possible. ToP spoilers be below, proceed at your own risk... ... Ok... Basically the scene that Dejap exagerated occurs about 1/4th into the game. The main party (Cress, Claus, Mint and Arche) all board a boat (I think it's to fight a magic user, but it would have been to get to Undine...doesn't matter either way). Now, in the original version, Claus and some other guy start drnking Saki, and get drunk. Eventually Cress and Mint leave, and Arche is asleep on the table. Claus and the guy talk for a bit, while Arche moans a bit about Cress while dreaming (IE: She is dreaming about Cress). Now the English version changes the Saki to "An all you can eat". I don't THINK the Arche bit was toned down, but as I don't understand japanese, I can't say. Now the Dejap translation of the SNES game basically made Arche's moanings a bit more raunchy, so rather than just letting the player know she was dreaming about Cress, they played the scene for laughs and had Arche details what was happening.

That's it? Awful amount of bitching from "veterans" for a little excessive moaning.

I've heard that the script in the SNES translation of ToP was "exaggerated" by DeJap. It's a crap shoot either way. I'm pretty sure this is the case. It's not the case that Nintendo removed the jokes, it's more that the jokes weren't there in the first place. The Tales GBA port is okay. It's great that it actually came out over here. The only thing that bothers me is that the battle system feels a little bit slower than the other versions. And they removed the intro song in the English release, as was already noted. Otherwise, it's okay. Even the music sounds relatively decent.

I don't really care about those script changes, or the intro music (well, maybe a little), but I miss the food pack! To be able to heal automatically, just by walking around you gained a decent amount of HP, no need to regularly go into the menu screen to waste MP on helping your members, just let them walk it off, and eat something.

Thank you all! I've been given enough responses to consider what to do... Skip ToP for the GBA and play the translated rom that I don't yet have in my ZSNES folder Rent The Godfather and form my opinion on it Get Dawn of Souls (because load times grow rather irritable on me over time) Rent ICO if I can find it up for rental or get it if it's twenty dollars or less ... still not quite sure about SPP, but I may get it, as I need more DS titles Thanks again!

I've never experienced bad loading times in Final Fantasy Origins.

Yeah, FF Origins has very few load times, so it's not a big deal. If you're lucky, Toys R Us is clearing the GBA version out for like $10. I can grab it if you like.
Also, ICO usually goes for like $10 at Gamestop. At least, that I've seen.
