I beg to differ on the Power Instinct Article. Groove on Fight was one of the best Power Instinct games. But Matrimelee on the other hand was crap. Game mechanics where too fast and Broken (Just as Rage of the dragons was).

Heh. Reminds me of that Family Guy episode with the drive by arguments. "I Disagree!"

By the way, Hikaru of Power Instinct Matrimelee is a girl who was born in a clan of men, so she casted her gender aside to compete in the tournament and show her strength to the world.
That's what I heard somewhere, though, it might be true, but you never know.

i keep hearing that Matrimelee is coming to PS2 in May, but can't find anything resembling an announcement that says that. also, it doesn't seem to come up on Play-Asia.com's search. can anyone point me towards where to look?

If I could've found a JPG to post up there of the British drive-by, I would have put it up. Anyway, yeah, someone e-mailed me that Hikaru is in fact a girl dressed as a boy. So it's like an anti-Bridget. Gotta fix this when I get home. Different places said different things, so I just went with one. Also, Isfet: www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-40-49-en-15-gouketuji-70-13q8.htmlWhy can't they pick one way of spelling the damned name. Romanzing "tsu" as "tu" isn't wrong, but it's not the standard most use. I can't remember the name.

To each their own. I personally find Matrimelee to be the best of the PI series, but I really haven't been able to play Groove On Fight much. Sega Titan Video does NOT work very well on MAME... not yet, anyway. As I said in the PI thread, I am rather tempted to pick it up for the Saturn.
Dammit! Really? I thought I heard such a theory somewhere... damn androgynous character designs. Oh well. At least whatever genitalia Hikaru has isn't flapping in the breeze for all to see.

I think Power Instinct is pretty good for the most part- the songs and unique moves adding to its appeal the most. I just wish it didn't have the typical SNK final boss problem..

If we're going to disagree, I find Groove on Fight's graphics much worse than those of the previous games. Sprites are bigger and splendidly shaded. On GOF, they tried to do something with a cel style a la Capcom's Vampire and they failed due to a crap sprite work. But hey; just me.

The earlier Power Instinct have a washed out look, where Groove on Fight is a bit cleaner. I just think some of the earlier PI designs are kinda dorky.

I just think some of the earlier PI designs are kinda dorky. Like Keith, I imagine. Good for him ditching the headband in Matrimelee. Somehow, it didn't go well with his hair. *shrug*
