King of Demons is this nice little gem I found in my translated folders (snes) Essentially from what i agathered it's a post apocalyptic world and the king of demons have been revived by a man named "abel" using your wife and children or something. But that's pretty useless info. onto gameplay. At first you'd think it's a castlevania clone. The size of the sprited and everything, What makes the difference is you have no whip or sword. You have a fun, an upgradeable gun (more on that later) The game is absolutely filled with trick jumps. In your regular form you can't jump very far or high. But you can roll (wich is more useful than you think) Many of the bosses are enourmous and reguire decent strategies to beat, until level four that is. Because after the level two boss you can pikc up a "gem" this gem turns you into a demon. One (green) fires a straight laser you can aim. It can double jump and glide. Fire and water an so on. But what really set's this game apart is not the music or the stages. It's the backgrounds. Simply playing for an hour you see from rusty blood soaked caverns to bustling cities destroyed and wrecked by demons. SCREENS:

Ahh! I've heard (and played) this one. Quite a good game. As you said, it does bear semblance to Castlevania, but certainly has enough on its own. A rather good action-platformer, if I do say so myself. Here's a sprite gallery that should interest you rather much: www.bogleech.com/snes-majyuuou.htmlIt doesn't hurt that this game has some good Mode 7 demonstrations.

Ah, yes, this game. I like it. Been a while since I last time played it. Never managed to get the good ending, which bothered me for a long time. But thanks to Sotenga's link, I'll know how to get it now. ;D
Those who haven't played this game should at least try it out. It's not a very long game. I remember finishing it the first time in a hour or so...Edit: Aeon Genesis translated the game into English. The patch can be downloaded from here[/i].

This game is RAD. I think I'll do an article for this soon. But I said the same for Hagane months ago, so...
Also, I need to muck with the demon forms. I didn't know they changed depending on what color gem you got at the end of the stage.
BTW, the Japanese name, for anyone looking for the ROM, is Majyuuou.

The game's great (I played it way back when Aeon Genesis first translated it), though one of the sound effects just really annoyed me, I think it was the green demon's charged beam. Other than that though, the game was awesome.
By the way, is the not-good ending any good? I made sure to get the best ending, and haven't motivated myself to go back and get the bad one.

By the way, is the not-good ending any good? I made sure to get the best ending, and haven't motivated myself to go back and get the bad one. It's so short that it makes you to wonder whether the game has an another ending. If my memory serves me right, it's just a couple of pictures (perhaps not even that much) and a few lines of text, nothing more.
Then again, I haven't seen the good ending yet...Edit: Here's the bad ending for you: www.vgmuseum.com/end/snes/c/kiodb.htm
