Anyone got any ideas how to get cheat code info from Konami? At least not by e-mailing Konami of Europe and asking for them. A couple of guys at Ancient Land of Ys messabe board tried to contact them, but never got any answers. Thanks for bringing the game over to Europe Konami, but some customer support would have be nice too.

It's probably like what happened with us and Samurai Shodown V. They printed in the manual that the bosses were playable with some codes, but didn't say what that code was.
At first SNK wouldn't answer the e-mails, but eventually they came out and said it was just a typo in the manual. I would almost guess Konami of Europe removed the extra stuff and just doesn't care enough to verify it.

Man that really sucks.
Hopefully Falcom allows for some more console games so there'll at least be the chance of them being brought over.
Or at least, I hope to God they sign on with Nintendo for the virtual console. Having a way to get their TG-16/Turbo CD stuff would be wonderful.

Knowing Japanese would be wonderful too.
I actually have Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, but haven't been able to play much of it for that very reason.

Knowing Japanese would be wonderful too. I actually have Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, but haven't been able to play much of it for that very reason. Actually, NightWolve and Deuce has translated that game in English. It's fully translated otherwise, but the speeches are still in Japanese, and there's no texts during them whatsoever (reminds me of the first CD-ROM based games with speech). All the speeches are translated in a text file, which can be printed on papers, but that's not the ideal way of enjoying the game in English, but some can deal with it. Anyway, you can download the patch from here: nick.serveblog.net/translations/ys4/The patch comes with the speech translations.

I had a feeling that the codes may have been completely removed... So does the NTSC version have the code for the PC mode? If so...I guess I am grabbing a second copy I picked up a copy of Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys and had it translated- all thanks to the HG101 article Kurt Not got around to playing it yet though :\ I also bought the terrible PS2 remake of Ys IV: Mask of the Sun - A New Theory, mainly because it ended on ebay with only one bid (my own) for about $10 hehe... Again, not played it and unlikely to after your views on it Kurt
