Thanks. I've seen that lot before, but decided not to buy. There's only a handful of Game Boy games that I'm interested in owning, and Side Pocket, Tiny Toon, and Revenge of the Gator isn't among them. I'm also not convinced that I could sell those three games easily.

I played with Catrap's level editor a bit just now and learned something new. I found out that you CAN save your homemade levels after all, but in the form of passwords. What a great game. The length of password for each level depends on how the level is built, but I've no idea about the formula. I don't know what the shortest password for a level can be (29 characters is the shortest I could get), but the maximum is 60 characters. From the article: You can also create your own levels using the handy in-game level editor, though these can't be saved, making it a rather redundant option. |

Cheers for the help gentlemen, I've updated the page.
Turns out I actually had a magazine with a review of Power Paws, so I included a scan of that too. It contains a reviewer who looks alarmingly like Mathew Broderick.

OK, updated. And this time I think we really got it.
Let me know if the display is broken for any of you, since I shoehorned an extra image in there.

Displays fine for me. By the way, any talented coders or music composers here that would be interested in remaking Catrap for Windows and Mac? I'm already making graphics for such thing for fun and practice, but it would be nice to have them actually used somewhere.

Screenshotted all 100 rounds from Catrap/Pitman and created this: Click! It will come handy when remaking the game sometime. During this screenshotting process, I noticed something. Round 60 is slightly different in the Japanese and American versions of the game, but every other round is exactly the same in both versions: Click!

Oh!MZ August 1985GAME25時パソコンは眠れないSource: an outdated yahoo auction by user camac Also, the contents for Oh!MZ November 1985マシン語入門大全集Source: page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f96595614 (camac) Bottom right: PITMAN プラス ( Plus) - 磯川豊 ( Yutaka Isokawa) PITMAN2000 - ?? PITGAL - ?? So it seems like there were other versions of PITMAN by different programmers.

Fantastic. Good work! Both that and MP83's information on regional differences should be added to the feature (at some point). Bit swamped at the moment - still, at least it's documented here. Cheers guys.

Great Catrap article! I've been fascinated with Pitman (aka Catrap) ever since I played it on the original gameboy. I had it on a 68-in-1 multigame cartridge and finished all levels. It's so elegant, simple to play yet very difficult. It has never received as much attention as it deserves I think. I've always wanted to reprogram it with better graphics and more levels etc. Btw there also was another game called "Mole Mole" for the PC-88 which is in a way similar to Pitman. Maybe the original Pitman was inspired by that game, because MoleMole was released in july 1985 and Pitman for MZ was released in august 1985 (maybe both ideas were developed separately though). It was also released for the NES, inaccurately titled "Banana" for some reason. Anyway I would also love to see the orginal BASIC listing for the original MZ-700 version. The august 1985 issue of the Oh!MZ magazine is actually on sale now, but I can't read Japanese and don't know how to buy from this Japanese auction site (I'm from the Netherlands) If anyone here knows how to buy it, and make a scan that would be awesome! Oh!MZ magazine (august 1985) -> page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w62795020cheers, Bas

I sent an inquiry to someone to bid on it for me. I'm not sure he can do it at the time, but if anyone here plans on bidding, please contact me first so we don't outbid each other.

Cool, sure hope you can get it *fingers crossed* btw I noticed this same yahoo auction 2 weeks ago, and then the closing-date was May 29th. Apparently it was extended now until June 12th (I translated the page with yahoo's Babel Fish). The magazine is such an obscure item anyway, I guess if it doesn't sell this time the auction will probably get extended again.

It has never received as much attention as it deserves I think. I've always wanted to reprogram it with better graphics and more levels etc. Do you have good programming skills and would be interested in remaking this game? I would be *really* interested in remaking all the graphics.
