Same with the Samurai Shodown series, the speed of the characters isn't quite as fast but the pacing of the game is very intense. No surprise as several of the staff in Arc Systems Works responsible for GGX and up were the same people that did the several of the older Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury games.

neorasa, fighting games are never being called broken from a low level view I'm not saying that high level players don't play SNK games, but that (at least in the US) they tend to get dismissed by high level players before they've even really gotten played enough to anyone to play them AT a high level. I think Last Blade 2, RBFF2 and Garou were the last ones that actually got some serious tournament play here. It started happening with SNK games since Samurai Shodown III (arguably a new type of game where all the characters are broken so there is balance between them ) and often while there may be more valid reasons, the loudest ones are always ______ is too powerful or _______'s infinite is cheap silliness instead of inherent problems with the gameplay system itself.

I find it funny that someone can't play a game just because it's "broken", even though noone is pushing that someone to use any of the glitches in the game. Ever. If you are playing for casual play, yes there is nothing wrong if the game is broken. But broken games do not fit to competitive play. Balancing is improtant subject in competitive games. You dont want someone to beat you because of a broken glitch even though you are the better player right? neorasa, like said before, poeple are playing the new SNK games (SS Tenka and KOF XI) in high levels in Japan so nobody has nothing against SNK. And I'm sure soon it will be spread in the US and the rest of the world too.

Even in competetive play, using glitches should be met with the exploiter getting dismissed from the tournament, not just ignoring the game completely.

See, then you have to determine what qualifies as a "glitch" and what's just "poorly balanced". I'd imagine it's too tough of a line to draw.

Even in competetive play, using glitches should be met with the exploiter getting dismissed from the tournament, not just ignoring the game completely. You can ban very specific glitch or even a character (Akuma in ST), but it's not practical to ban an infinite for example. How can you ban an infinite? let say in the 30 hit the combo is being an infinite so people will do a 29 hit combo and the game still will be broken. And if you start a banning a lot of things you will eventually change the game completely.

I find it hard to believe that anyone is actually so cheap as to abuse an infinite to win a bragging contest. Very hard.

Wait, isn't that costume based on what's her face from Barayarou? shido it's good to hear Tenka and KoFXI are getting a lot of serious play.

That pic I posted is Luise Meyrink, one of the new characters from KoF MI2. I've actually never played Barayarou, so I'm not sure if there's any relation.
A lot of the alternate costumes in MI2 pay homage to other characters. Like Chae Lim has a May Lee costume, Ralf has a Marco costume, and Geese dresses as Goenitz, Mukai and others.
