...will negativly affect its sales. People are whining and moaning about how high it is, but when the time comes, it'll be sold out everywhere. If only because its the "hot new thing" to buy...

Yeah, exactly. Sony has just as many loyalists, if not more, as Nintendo has.

And some people will probly wanna attack that giant enemy crab's weakpoint for massive damage. Anyone who says PS3 is doomed is mad.

Well I bought a PSone and a PS2 around launch times but I won't be buying a PS3 at this current time. This might not reflect the entire industry but I think they might not go as far as they seem to expect.

I have never bought a Sony product at launch- £300(think $600+) for the original PS1+PS2 at launch and heck, those machines all had dodgey launch line-ups and hardware issues. This time around I can see things being worse- the astronomical price, the fact they are rushing machines out for launch, the fact it still seems as though no-one is entirely sure of the final specs... I see a hell of a lot of machines needing returned on their warranty. The high price probably wont affect sales too much though, I know someone (a Sony fanboy) who already has said he is buying one at launch- just because he has a high enough paying job to do so! People shell out silly money for bragging rights amongst friends...

Heh, ironically Sony's target audience is people who do NOT have the money to pay for it. It's kind of sad that the trash that comes into my store is actually saving up their welfare checks NOW for the PS3, for the first time ever. ASSHOLES, YOU COULD BUY YOUR FAMILY FOOD INSTEAD. $600 IS TWO CAR PAYMENTS. DEPENDING ON YOUR SITUATION $600 IS A CAR.

I wonder if this will mark the greatest a system's value has ever depreciated when all is said and done. I mean, you can get an original PlayStation for $10-$20 easily these days, so just think about when the PS3 will hit that point. Makes buying one at $600 seem even more foolish. There's no real reason to think it won't hit that low eventually since we're all confident that the system will still sell well and thus be very common and cheap when its lifespan is over.
I will say one thing, it makes me feel a little better that tri-Ace's next game is supposedly on the 360. While I can't imagine what else for the 360 I'd be interested in (unlike the PS3 which I'm sure will get some cool Japanese-developed games), at least if I'm forced to buy one of the two to play the next tri-Ace game it's the cheaper of the pair. Then again, if the next tri-Ace game was on Wii, I would be so infinitely happier. :P
