Could we possibly get up a kind of *request forum* for people searching for games they don't know the names of or games of very specified genres.
As I'm sure many of individuals here have a vast repository of things they could suggest.
The main reason I'd ask this is so things of a request nature don't bog up the General area.

I would like to have such forum, because there's this one odd Japanese chess/strategy game hybrid for MSX2 I've always wanted to re-play sometime, but don't remember shit about it. Still, I don't believe anyone of you is hardcore enough to know this game, since not even the greatest MSX fans remembers this game.

Only go here if you need to know more or refresh yourself on SNES and SFC titles: boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=913&topic=28048504Otherwise, why don't we just make a "Can't remember the name of a game?" thread here on this board? You post details about a game you need help remembering, what system it may pertain to, and the vets and the like come and give a helping hand? Btw, I have no idea about that MSX game...that one is just too left-field for me ;D

I don't know what that is, but from the way you describe it, you should try out First Queen on the Super Famicom.

The game I played many years ago on MSX2 wasn't First Queen, but thanks.

That's more a competition though, some people have no idea what they're looking for except the vaguest 10 year old memory.
Personally I wanted to as, there's a SFC game I played a while back probably common as dirt but I don't remember the name, basically you played as a snake and you were in competition with other snakes to eat pellets or powerups or something..and the games graphics were checkerboard patterned with some scenery (a bit like Qbert)..anyone tell me the game I offer a Karma for it.

not sure if it's it but there's only 1 snake game on SFC that I know of, and that would be WildSnake (US name)

A dull if somewhat unique puzzler is that wild snake game, unfortunately not what I was looking for, thanks for trying though, anyone else?

Hee MP83, am I hardcore enough to say the game you played is Akanbe Dragon? You can find more info here: www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/1049BTW, I love to see a buy/sell/trade forum on HG101. For all those "strange" Japanese games, soundtracks, merchandice etc.

Nah, it's not Akanbe Dragon either. By the way, I love that game! The game I've been looking for a long time, I do know couple of extra details from it if you're interested trying to help me?

I can't think of a SFC game like that, but Snake Rattle n Roll for the NES is that exactly.

Please give me some extra details about this game. I know lots of people who played MSX games from 1985 till far into the 90's, including myself of course ;-) Maybe they can help as well!

Well, here's all that I remember: - The game is divided into multiple one-screen stages. You start each stages by selecting some odd chess pieces (from the left bar) that looks like Japanese letters and place them on a chess-type board. - Unlike in regular chess games, placing your piece on a square that has an enemy piece on it doesn't mean you can automatically eat the piece. It depends on both pieces' attributes whether one of the pieces will win or both loses. - A Famicom/NES game called Lickle/Little Samson has a song (mouse character's theme) that sounds really similar to one of the songs used in this MSX2 chess game. That could also be just a coincidence.

Thanks kyouki for getting it across platform, as I said my memory was fuzzy on a lot of it, I was certain that I'd played it on SNES but there you go I probably can't have.
*edit* hmm just saw this on the Wiki
"The original planned sequel, Snakes In Space, was never made due to lack of sales. It was, however, followed up by Sneaky Snakes for the Game Boy in 1991, and was ported to the Sega Genesis in 1993."
Snake Rattle and Roll was ported to the Genny, I owned a genny so it's likely I rented it on that.
