I remember back about 2 years ago when my R.A. called me into his room to watch something amazing. I came in found playing the famous Morimoto Super Mario Bros. 3 time attack, conquering the game in about 11 minutes.
Since then that record has been eclipsed, but it'll always hold a special place in my heart as one of the coolest time attacks I've ever seen.
I'm not sure which kind of time attacks are my favorite- there've been some amazing Mega Man and Mario Bros ones, including some that absolutely destroy the game physics (ie- In SMB 1 time attacks, now measured by frames, walking through walls is a necessity), though some that deal with the game mechanics as is make for a better show. Other impressive ones were the Mega Man X1/X2 dual time attack, where the same inputs were used to beat both games in near record time, and the Sonic 3 & Knuckles time attack, given the massive nature of the game's levels.
I've worked with friends on a rejected time attack (Wheel of Fortune- NES; all I can say is we thought, and still think it was funny), and of those, a good friend of mine is trying lesser known SNES games.
Anyone else have a favorite time attack, or tried submitting one?

Theres nothing that springs to mind, but I really don't like those time attacks that "break the game physicis."
I mean, you're pratically cheating, so why not just get a code where you can press A and beat the game instantly?

Actually, That's more fun than playing the game. It's faster, you know that there isn't orom for error. It makes the game harder

I love watching "tool-assisted" speed runs. There was one of Super Mario 64 on YouTube a while back where the player skipped large sections of the game by glitching through star doors and past the endless stairs with only 30-some stars.
Of course, I'm just a big fan of finding hilarious glitches in games, anyway (because it's probably the greatest thing ever to watch Beren in Ultima 8 just give up and dive into the water).

The only time attack I ever tried would have to be getting 101% the quickest in Donkey Kong Country. :/

I never really jumped out for any time attacks... though, if memory serves correctly, I may have ended up whomping Bionic Commando in under an hour. There's this one website which looks pretty awesome... tasvideos.org/... but I NEVER could get any videos to play from it. Does anyone know how to run these dang movies that require an emulator?

I love the metroid games time attack. They change the path of getting the power ups and then you are like "Ohhhh... How come I didn't think about it?"

The cool things I ever did with this stuff are beating NES Contra in under fifteen minute and beating NES Bionic Commando in under twenty. Probably no way I could duplicate those now though.
