I get it every once in a while, but I clearly still have to get the timing down. Also, some of the complaints I hear about this are really weird. About how the game should be rebalanced, the music sucking, the graphics not being redone, how parrying should be done KOF-style, and how the cast is a band of freaks. I mean shouldn't most of this stuff be common knowledge by now? It's like they were asking for something else entirely despite having tons of youtube videos to see the finished project from.

Eh, fuck 'em. The cast really IS a bunch of a freaks, but that's what's so great about it. I'll take Elena over Rufus any day of the week.

As a Hugo player I would certainly not object to the Big Three (Chun, Ken, Yun) getting hit with the nerf bat, but everything else... It's how many years old, and people didn't know what to expect?

I'm also seeing a bunch of complaints about the game lagging, but some testers at SRK have possibly found out the problem. People are apparently used to the console ports of SF3 which are sped up from the Arcade version. Some testers found that the CPS2/CPS3 had 4 frames of input lag, which is what this game has. So it's just like the arcade version. People are just used to the console version.
Also quick word from the producer on problems you may encounter.

This is Derek Neal, the producer on Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. Before you ask, yes: the Third Strike launch is going great! But, I did want to take a moment to update you all on a couple of issues of which we are currently aware…and, what we’re doing to address them.
Xbox Replay System
Microsoft is currently experiencing some downtime associated with their XLSP system. This has temporarily brought down the Replay uploading / sharing system on the X360 version of the game. We’re working furiously with Microsoft to get this resolved as soon as possible, though! We hope to have these features back up and running shortly. Also, we’ll have a TU out tomorrow that should get YouTube working (providing the issues on Microsoft’s side have been ironed out).
Ranked Matches
We’ve seen some complaints about it taking a long time to get into a Ranked Match. Sorry about that! This is an unintentional side-effect of our “user friendly” Ranked Match system. It’s basically creating way more “clients” than “hosts” right now, resulting in “hosts” getting snapped up super-fast, while “clients” are left to basically wait in line. We’ll be patching to fix this as soon as we can, but for now, we ask that you please be patient.

Be sure to taunt at least three times with Q. It sends his defense through the roof. That's one thing I thought was neat in SF3, the taunts actually did something for all the characters. As for a massive amount of Ken players...well...welcome to the world of top tier whoring. The hit confirming aspect kind of turned me away from the game, as well. Most matches usually end up revolving around people whiffing quick attacks to build meter (Chun-li = Back + Fierce Punch all day) and then fishing for a hit to then go straight into their super. I enjoy SF3 for what it's worth, but the competitive scene (much like any competitive scene for fighters) just gets on my nerves. I admit I was involved in it for a short period of time back before SF4 came out, but I've really gotten out of that side of fighters. Yep, Q Taunt is the thing that keeps him a decent character, three taunts means a 40% damage reduction, that is almost doubling his stamina and he starts having the second best in the game. Im doing fine against most the cast still I need to practise parring since I can't parry anything other than fireballs, Q lack of a get-the-fuck-out-of-me move bugs me the most. I hope they fix matchmarching soon, not being able to pick region is stupid and I get matched with USA or worse. For playing quicker, I like to create 4 people tournaments with pro rules, you get to play more often than with ranked, and watching other people play helps.

I like that we can see other people play during tourney's. It's what every fighting game needs. That and this new video upload feature. Maybe even some shooters could adapt it as well. It'd be nice to upload some of my Halo Reach clips that I've cut straight up to Youtube.

That's what Capcom gets for trying to go for something different musically. I rather admire it. Of course, now they're back to the same old fighting game tunes, or watered down remixes of Street Fighter 2's music.

Mostly, unrelated but my friend coming over to play SF3 and talking of SNK games, as well as going through HG101's articles on KoF and Fatal Fury have piqued my interest in Garou Mark of the Wolves which I understand is often compared to SFIII. I even managed to dig up the thread that showed up when this game first came to XBLA. Going through got me extremely interested in the game. Darn it, I wish the 360 d-pad was half as good as the PS3's d-pad so I could pick it up. I hear it's at pretty sweet price as well.

The wireless 360 controllers have very decent d-pads compared to the wired ones and my King of Fighters '02UM matches were mostly problem free. Shame XBLA's Garou's netcode is kinda crap. If you ever splurge for it though I'm totally game. Alternatively, me and some of the guys here used to play on GGPO and Supercade.
As for good ol' 3rd Strike, I'll wait for the inevitable sale.

Hmm. I've had nothing but bad experiences with the d-pads on the wireless controllers. Glad they work for somebody, though.

i quit my yoga class cuz floating and fireballs werent on the roster
One comment from an Akuma player that made me lol was that he didn't play Hugo because Hugo is ugly. Really? I could understand this if someone picked Chun-li or Ken most of the time, but Akuma isn't exactly a looker, unless you're into guys whose faces look like creepy wood carvings of a lion.

I remarked to my friend that Akuma looked ugly in this game, and he told me the always does. I can scared to look back and find that he really has always been that ugly.
