UPD: Tried that last option. Level editor rocks - I like it, but I can't find any way to put my own graphics into the game (SDLPoP version).

If you want to use and modify SDLPoP's graphics, then you need to remove related .DAT files. An example below. Let's say I modify: prince/data/TITLE.DAT/res51.png Then I should subsequently remove: prince/TITLE.DAT This forces SDLPoP to search in data/ for TITLE.DAT information.

Today, I also released a level editor of Prince of Persia for the Apple II. www.popot.org/level_editors.php?editor=leapopApple II is where the game first arrived; in 1989. The program isn't perfect yet, but all basic functionality is there.
