Dang, I just found out about this like 30 minutes ago. Hope this still goes.

Anyway, this was a little harder than I thought. I had put most of my favorites on vgmdaily.wordpress.com, but most of those are arranges! Actual in-game stuff is harder...

I read the stuff about different systems, but I think the sound chip can have a HUGE (or at least subtle) impact (especially with Famicom vs NES). There also was no mention about arranges if the track is reused in a different game, but I tried not to have duplicates. Heavy Metal Thunder probably doesn't count, but I honestly don't know if it's licensed music...

Does anyone else think that, in addition to someone tallying up things (Discoalucard, I believe) -, it would be very interesting to get a general breakdown of all the music tracks by system? I mean, when all is said and done, which console/era had the games with the best music? I'd be willing to bet it might be the PSX/32-bit era, but who knows?

Even though I know it's not really a numbers game here. It was just a thought.

I like the sound of that. Perhaps it could go even further, and track which developers / publishers have the most entries on the list. Granted, it's going to be mostly Squaresoft, Konami and Capcom on here, but I'd be interested to see just how many votes each company got.

Oh yeah, absolutely. Once I get everything finalized, I'll start adding extra data (composers, etc) and probably post the spreadsheet if anyone else wants to do their own analysis. Maybe compare it to the 2ch list, too.

I'm not sure about platforms though, based on the way I'm counting up votes. Like all votes for Bloody Tears are being counted together, even if someone specifically votes for the original NES version, or the PCE or the Judgment versions.
