What about fictional books? I'm reading Player One Start right now, and it's kept me pretty addicted.

I'd wanted to do reviews of game-related fiction (ditto with Lucky Wander Boy) but just never got around to them. Alas, this is one of those things where it needs to be fresh in my mind when I write about it, and I read it last summer, so I'm not sure I could write anything decent. I rather liked the book too. Amusing that the author's favorite arcade game was Black Tiger. It's a decent game just fairly obscure to include in something like this.

Black Tiger freaking rules.
Also anyone know anything about the Famidas books? I just got them off of Ebay pretty cheap.

If we're on the topic of video game novelizations, we have to mention the single greatest of all: the classic The Adventures of Q-bert www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0921/It's a piece of art.

Did that Road Blaster/Road Avenger novelization ever come to light?

Pretty decent book, lots of great gaming references. Hehe, Black Tiger...loved that game. Just thinking about that game makes me remember the music it had, which was pretty much ingrained in my head since the last time I've played it. When I finish Ready Player One, I wouldn't mind taking a stab at writing a review.

Oh wow, that review of the Parasite Eve book is brutal. I can't believe that such a brilliant game was inspired by it. I thought I wanted the book, but maybe not so much after all. ^^'

so, about "Console Wars", the AV Club gave it a pretty bad review but I trust HG101's judgment on something like that more
I guess I'll check it out

You really need to feel comfortable with the way it's written in order to enjoy it. I've seen every single review bring it up, and most are okay with it, through it definitely rankled the nerves of the AV Club guy more than others. I thought it was perfectly readable, but I would've preferred a more straightforward narrative.

I didn't know we had this article here. Surely "Invasion of the Space Invaders" should at least mention that Mr. Amis is extremely prominent in the world of English literature? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Amis

I had no idea! There were some other aspects that irked me about the review, so there's a revised version up now.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy got a novelization, oddly enough.
