I guess I'll go back to the beginning and beat up that dummy to get whatever it is you get from it, since I feel like I need some more chain techniques anyway.
Ooh shit, don't kill me don't kill me.. you only get a bunch of cure/vera bulbs, so it's not worth restarting if you've put more than an hour or so into the game (hope you didn't already). On the other hand, you'll have built up a ton of human points, which will make grinding for good armor easy after the mines; for reference, I'm in snowfly forest and have a human-killer blade at 50 while my other weapons are at about 30 to 36 at best.
Has anyone mapped the snowfly forest? It definitely has a set "main" path. If I have the stomach I might try and sketch one up. Aside from it being tedious as FUCK, if you see the number of snowflies decrease when you go to the next screen, go back to the previous screen and try again. I wasted a ton of time trying the first person view to see if there were congregations of the flies or something but it's nothing that elegant. Secondly, if you find a path that is "blocked with a cloud of snowflies", remember in general where it is once you fight the dragon boss, then retrace your steps back to it. I made the mistake of going through the exit on the opposite side of the boss arena, and wound up back at the beginning eventually.
On the elixirs, make sure and use them - aside from the roulette wheel they're the only thing that raises Ashley's stats. Looks like the old Dragon Quest trick works. Looks like the results are random and you get up to 4 points per elixir - save, then hope you get a 4, if not, reload, try again, save after a success. It's tedious but is pretty important especially with the magic.
