Any opinions on the soundtrack? As tedious as equipment modification is in this game, I could spend hours in the workshop just listening to the music.

Any opinions on the soundtrack? The soundtrack is phenomenal in this game. I know Square titles are noted for having excellent soundtracks, but I've been blown away by some of the songs in this. My favorite is probably the wyvern theme that plays during some of the dragon boss fights:

Megatron: make your way to the eastern part of town from the central areas you're in (you'll go through the abandoned mines B2 first I think). In addition to two good workshops there's a dungeon where you'll fight a lich and get both the teleport spell and herakles (strength up spell) spell. After that, you're officially stuck along with the rest of us, hahaha. Also, you and feynman need to come by the GC9x chatroom sometime. The area where y'all are stuck is basically the Resident Evil part of the game... there are two (or is it three?) doors in the Limestone Quarry that have to be unlocked with sigils found in other locations. Basically, open your map, and use L1/R1 to cycle through all the rooms. If you highlight a room with a door you have the key to unlock, an "Unlockable" icon will appear. The key/sigil hunt before the Limestone Quarry is probably the most confusing sequence in the game. Lea Monde is rather mazelike, so it's a pain trying to remember what new doors you have access to. The good news is that the final area is right after the Limestone Quarry, so you're all nearly at the end of the game now. There are few completely optional side areas you can visit as well with some nice loot. Try going back to the room where you fought the minotaur at the beginning of the game!

Man, I hate Vagrant Story and think Hitoshi Sakimoto is really overrated as a composer, and even I adored Vagrant Story's soundtrack. It's excellent.

He's sort of like...I can't think of a proper food analogy. He has a very specific style that feels really striking at first, but becomes less and less impressive with each successive release. Best taken in small, specific doses.
I won't lie. "Truth" makes me cry. Every goddamn time.

*Phew* think I am finally caught up to you guys - got that teleportation spell and the strength up spell. I think I have crafted some of my weapons into a corner though - I managed to get my undead killing weapons strength stat to around 29 whereas the others lay in the late teens despite being Hagane style- d'oh. Oh well, will try to press on and see about finishing the game before the deadline is up. Sometimes I really enjoy it and then sometimes I just seem to be really struggling both with damaging enemies and making any real progress. It really is quite a mixed bag.

I've been screwing around in the Mines B2 with that timed maze thing. Man, I hate that. The rooms with the gargoyles (i.e., the ones with the treasure) are a pain because of them spamming you with spells, and most likely being out of range for you to do anything about it. GAH!
That, and I'm no closer to finding a way in to the quarry. I did what feynman said but the only unlocked doors I could find were latched ones. Hm. Anyway, the search continues!

I'll try to get looking at this again this evening- I literally hadn't the willpower to load it up yesterday... I got cold shakes thinking of the multiple weapon switches and equipment juggling involved

That's why I haven't gotten much farther in the past few days either. When I die in the game it kills my will to try again, because it's either a totally crushing defeat that I failed to prevent by not monitoring my health, or some cheap bullshit like what just happened to me (I triggered a trap, then was assaulted by two spells before I had a chance to heal). In both cases, it usually means backtracking at least 15 minutes. At that point I just say "fuck it." When you get to the area I'm at, make sure and just go after one chest per run. That way you're more likely to actually make progress . As far as I can tell there's only three. Also, make sure you've done the Iron Maiden dungeon first, since there are chests locked with the chest key. It's more tedious, but it's worth not having wasted tons of time like I have. On the bright side also, you'll level up your human weapon VERY fast, probably 7 or 8 points per "run".

Oh I've yet to visit the Iron Maiden area- cheers for the heads up NP. Also, make sure you've got at least 3 of the fairy wings things, it'll help you bypass the annoying "get across the pit" block puzzles. And if you get to the steel key door, you're done, head back. I'm pretty sure the steel key is going to be either coming up later in the game or in new game plus; at least this way you'll have the chest key.

Still got some of those fairy wings from the irritating forest so I'll keep a hold of them. I tell you what, I'm not going to be doing new game plus anytime soon though! I think if I make it to the end I'll have had my fill of this edit: yikes, played this a lot longer tonight than I intended to :\ Aaaaaanyways - I went down in that Iron Maiden dungeon to the point I needed a steel key- by the time I came back up I've been able to upgrade all my weapons -I now have weapons with a 29+ attack stat so hopefully that should keep me going a little longer (please god!) and I snared a few agility boosting items. Anybody got any idea what the wines I found are for? I almost died with shock when I came across the dragon and Golem in the Iron Maiden but I kicked their asses without any issues so that was a relief! Anyways- proper exploring tomorrow all being well- I will beat this game- I swear!

GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Well, thanks from a tip-off from Sotenga, I finally found the fucking Iron key...it's in a room called "Weapons not Allowed" in the Undercity East, shortly after you fight the Lich. And I missed the damn chest for some reason the first time. So yeah, that helps big time.
OK, looks like I found the Limestone Quarry, the next big section, but I'll need more sigils I guess like Feynman mentioned. Anyway, entrance is in Undercity West, in the room "The Sunless Way" (which is a teleport point).

Okay! I too have now found the Sunless Way path into the Limestone Quarry now dude I also went back to the winecellar to kill the Zombie Minotaur (he can't be chained but he was a pushover anyways) and I also then ended up fighting a guy and a girl in the Undercity - I focused on the girl and took her out which seemed to auto end the battle for both- she went down easy though so there are no real issues. I now have 3 sigils to use in the Limestone Quarry and found my first damascus weapon...but my Hagane crafted ones seem better stat-wise all round no nyeh Did anyone try the time attacks? I beat the Dragon in 0.78 seconds which was kinda hilarious...The Minotaur in 1.78 seconds. Anyways- thats me done for the night! I'm off to bed, will try to enter the quarry tomorrow

And now I am through the Quarry - three bosses to note- a Water elemental, a big Ogre guy and a Frost Dragon. One thing I've noticed lately - the more this game goes along it's actually gotten easier due to the fact you now have gems and bracelets to give you more of a fighting chance against the various elemental weaknesses of the various enemies. With a gem on your weapon, a spell to buff that element and a strength raising spell all of the enemies are a lot easier to tackle than the initial selection of bastards :\ The Dragon and Ogre Lord can be chained on by the way- so keep wailing on them and they go down no bother. Oddly - the ogres you fight in the quarry itself can barely be chained and given they are prone to silencing you are actually tougher than the bosses...or so I found :\ Anyways- I'm guessing this game is near the end? The cut-scenes seem to be hinting as much... edit: arrived at the great Cathedral! Way too tired to tackle it tonight. I'll give it a blast tomorrow
