The Colonel's Bequest and Police Quest 2. In terms of setting, puzzles and story, they both have a very unique approach, but are both very dated (controls and some gameplay mechanics as well). A streamlined, expanded remake would be awesome. (Laura Bow 2 I actually prefer in terms of setting, but that one has flawed puzzle design; worse than part 1 IMO) The same goes for DreamWeb. Covert Action. It's still playable, but it'd actually work great as a casual bursts-style minigame collection, in that you play a mission, safe and resume later on. Mega Man X6. I'm dead serious. Some of the ideas in that game were great (alternate pathways!), but the execution was clunky as hell, thanks to it being a rushjob and incomplete. If this game was complete, it might very well be my favorite PS1 Mega Man. Sonic 3D. I've always liked this one. It could've used some major pacing fixes, a safe feature and an overworld. Also more, more varied, levels. But in general, it's got some cool aspects to it, especially for its time. There is an excellent fan remake out that is better than any of the official games IMO. There's really little need for that, this is as good as the classic formula is ever gonna get. I'd love a proper sequel, though, with 3d graphics and an open world-approach. Keep the gameplay classic, but don't just rehash the formula. But that's hardly a remake I guess. Super Mario Land 1,2,3 in a Super Mario All Stars style graphics. Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link (with gorgeous Symphony of the Night beating graphics rather than the horrid '3d model/2d gameplay' overhaul it would probably receive like that new Ghosts n' Goblins game) Metroid 2: Return of Samus (to the same effect as above- I don't want another Prime retread either!) All very cool choices. I'd fix it so that the S and K grooves don't suck, mainly by changing them entirely. Isn't K the Groove with Just Defended? If so, that's probably the only non-rolling groove that was used in tourneys after Roll Canceling was discovered. It hardly sucks. Also already exists as a very good fan project.

Man, this is a surprisingly hard question.
I would've said the Wario Land series but the games are already aged to perfection, in my opinion. You couldn't pull off WL2's hidden block level in today's gaming world.
I'd personally like to see a Space Harrier/OutRun/Sega Super Scaler game reboot, but NOT using 3D. That's right, I want them to emulate the 2D scaling capabilities of the olden-days, but with new, updated graphics, like OutRunners did.

- The Legend of Zelda 2: Nintendo did a great job with Metroid Zero Mission. It would be nice if they did something similar with Zelda 2. The closest thing we can get is Legend of Princess: www.konjak.org/index.php?folder=4&file=11- Sonic R: The concept of this game is interesting (not to mention the god-tier soundtrack) but unfortunately controls and camera ruin the fun. Add characters from later Sonic games and we have the perfect Sonic racing. - Quinty: I love this game but god damn it, its difficulty is so unfair in later stages. A remake with balanced difficulty, auto-save after you complete a stage, improved frame-rate (it pushed NES to its limits) and a little modern graphics (althought I love the graphics of the original) would be awesome. Please make that happen, Game Freak.

Some of these are not so much remakes as they are adjustments.
Megaman X8 - Lower the falling/jumping speed to match the SNES games, get rid of that jetbike nonsense ruining two stages, snip out the minigame shit from the sunflower stage, give Sigma a sizable fortress with actual bosses and not just rematches, and maybe lower the amount of spikes.
Megaman X3 - Redo the music, remake the bosses to have more attacks/animation/AI, remake the Buster upgrade to be useful and not sluggish as hell, and throw in Zero ala X4 for funsies.
Megaman X5-X7 - Burn that shit to the ground and start over.
3D Bionic Commando - Change the aesthetic to be more like the NES game (bright colors, dopey 80s things), get rid of the radiation, separate stages into sort of nonlinear areas like the NES game, add a level select screen/ability for the game to remember the shit you've already picked up when revisiting stages. Oh, and an actual swinging duel with Groeder, because that was a huge letdown after Rearmed.
Castlevania Legends- Remove the Alucard romance, nerf the subweapons and make them regular pickups from candles like God intended, add big hearts, make that secret stage a regular stage (and/or just add more stages), nerf Burning or remove it altogether, cut the stages differently so they don't feel so goddamned long and slow, and give enemies/bosses better AI or more tricks.
Castlevania Adventure- Make the speed faster. I actually kind of like this game as is though.
Megaman 7/8- Have all eight stages playable from the start. (And in 8, for the love of God add an option for Voice Over Volume adjustment.)
Megaman Zero series- Add an option for a no-plot mode. I love these games to pieces, but I just don't care about the plot, and there's way too goddamn much to mash A through.

I also forgot about Cheetahmen 2. The concept was cool, the soundtrack was catchy...if only it was given to proper developers we would have an awesome game. Even the fan-made remake (I don't know if it's complete) was meh:

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon needs a remake with 60FPS, better camera, and the option of original music and remixed tracks. It would instantly become my favorite game of all time.

I guess I'm not sure. Most games I would suggest could just use a touch up, because they are getting kind of ugly.
I guess I'd like a Xenogears remake though. Because I really like it, but it's not very good. I don't think I could ever play it again, the way it is. The gameplay is kind of dull. The story feels really rushed and weirdly set up. It feels like it takes forever for it to get to the interesting stuff. I just want someone to take Xenogears back to the drawing board. Fix things, and somehow come back to me with Xenogears.
Also, while I'm at it Vagrant Story. I want a playable Vagrant Story.
And because I forgot what my avatar was, a better balanced Tactics.

A 16 or 32Bit remake of The Gurdian Legend would be awesome, complete witch PC-Engine/MCD styled cutscenes. Other than that I'll go with Jumping Flash.

I would remake Final Fantasy X and get rid of all of the characters and the storyline to make an entirely different game.

I've mentioned before that I think a remake of Zak McKraken would be swell; it's already got a great nonlinear design. Just take out the stupid, annoying mazes and replace them with RPG dungeon crawls. (Imagine wailing on monsters with increasingly stale varieties of French bread!) The Indiana Jones adventure games would also be much improved with the addition of a proper fighting game engine rather than the primitive substitute. Megaman X3 - Redo the music, remake the bosses to have more attacks/animation/AI, remake the Buster upgrade to be useful and not sluggish as hell, and throw in Zero ala X4 for funsies. I think there's a Fully Playable Zero fan hack that is nearing completion.

X3 also has the problem that the final buster upgrade and most of the weapons suck, and that the level design relies heavily on doors. It's a great beta version I guess. (Whereas X6 is a great Alpha version)
