I'd love to see remakes for Donkey Kong Land 1 and 2. I second this. I always thought they would be good candidates for remakes.

I'd love to see someone do to Deus Ex what "Black Mesa" did for Half Life, that is keep it the same exact game but just brilliantly update the graphics engine
Deus Ex is one of my favorite games ever but man is it looking worse for wear, even for a game from 2000, I'm just saying, it would be nice to have such brilliant gameplay given a face-lift

I've been thinking of a Top Gear 3000 remake as a futuristic racing game in the style of Redline. Despite the ' futuristic' tag, I would like to keep it grounded in modern racing reality: no tubular, gravity-defying stages or weapons that would give it an arcade feel. Top Gear was all about racing. Races would take part in several planets, like the original, but I would add other scenarios like immense space ships, cities and space stations, showcasing breathtaking landscapes. Competitions would consist not only of races, but also rally events and other special modes like in DiRT or GRID. Naturally, it would include a bigger selection of cars with exotic designs, but keeping it basic: four wheels, one engine. Given that it's a galaxy-spanning tournament, racers would belong to many different alien races. As it's also an illegal tournament, as the instruction manual says, maybe every once in a while the Space Police (or whatever it would be) would crash the races and add dangerous cops to the mix. In addition, the original's customization would be expanded in the style of the Need for Speed games. Finally, the original Top Gear trilogy would be included as an Easter Egg. There it is.

I've got a few more ideas.
When I replayed Resident Evil 4 last year I was disappointed to see that the once amazing graphics have lost a lot of their luster, more so than some other games of the era too (like for example, Metal Gear Solid 3), that makes me wish that Capcom would do a full on REmake style re-do of the graphics engine, but keep the game itself the same.
I also think that for Bioshock's tenth anniversary they should port it to the Unreal 4 engine, Bioshock is still a pretty good looking game, so it doesn't need a from the ground up re-do, but switching over to UE4 would probably allow for fancier smoke/steam atmospheric effects, water effects, lighting effects etc, make it to where there are actual models of Rapture outside the windows (similar to Burial At Sea) instead of a flat image skybox and improve the character models so that Tenenbaum and Atlas have actual unique character models instead of re-purposed Splicers.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they do something just like that for Bioshock's tenth anniversary (which as much as it pains me to say, is only a few years away).

Alien Soldier, Contra Hard Corps, Snatcher/Policenauts, Super Mario Sunshine.
- Alien Soldier: Treasure (my #1 favorite company) celebrated their 20th anniversary back in 2013. Do you know what they did to celebrate it? NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL. I feel like that they should have either released a brand-spanking-new game that crosses over all of their (non-licensed) games and ties up that HUGE sequel hook at the end of Gunstar Super Heroes' Hard mode, or at least 2.5D remakes of their first three original titles - Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite He(a)ddy and Alien Soldier. The latter is my favorite of them all, and it would be crazy to play it all over again with even more bosses, modern Ninja Gaiden levels of difficulty and gore, crazy finishers, new weapons and techniques and maybe some cutscenes, so that the plot progression can actually MAKE SENSE. I wouldn't mind if they kept the enormous engrishy text scroll at the intro and make the voice acting terrible on purpose, though.
- Contra Hard Corps: So we already got Hard Corps Uprising, a prequel to this that retcons all of Colonel Bahamut's backstory, so why not remake the (IMO) greatest Contra of all time with the villain's renewed backstory in place, and with a bigger plot and more paths to follow to boot? It would also be cool to see these new paths be triggered by how you act on the stages themselves, like in Rondo Of Blood. But PLEASE, Konami, keep the health bar from the Japanese version in place this time, or at least put a limited-use quicksave/savestate function so that pattern memorization isn't as troublesome. And please don't ruin the soundtrack too, or maybe add an option to always play the original instead of the arranged versions.
- Snatcher/Policenauts: These are the most probable-to-be-made of this list, after all it IS Kojima we're talking about. After he's done with Silent Hills and Phantom Pain (which seems to be the last Metal Gear game that needs to be made... maybe?), he'd better remake these two as plot-heavy third person shooters/RPG hybrids, a la Mass Effect. And if he's feeling generous, he could also remake SD Snatcher as a cel-shaded Vita/PSN exclusive, with some sort of reward/extra functions available for owners of both versions. It would be cool to see an SD Policenauts, too.
- Super Mario Sunshine: Each 3D Mario game has its own merits, and this one's are the huge levels and hub world. Make it more open-ended like Super Mario 64 (which already got a DS remake, but would be cool to see remade again), put those amazing graphics and water effects in beautiful HD, tone down the difficulty a bit and presto, we have our next-gen Mario game.

That's genius.

Kinda surprised Nintendo never remade Zelda I and II yet. Besides the BS edition of course. I would give it the bundled pairing, like with Ys and Final Fantasy have done. Story would be told more in-game, retelling events that was found on the manuals and Hyrule Historia. Give NPCs more to talk about (but please, keep Error the same) and offer new side quests.

I'd love a Zelda 2 remake. The original is one of those "grey" games, that are somewhat more obscure classics (1 is by far the more iconic of the two), and as far as I know, it gets quite a bit more involved as far as puzzles and vastness of dungeons is concerned later on. I love that, somewhat unknown games that have some sense of exploration of foreign worlds to them, but Zelda 2 was just way too hard for me.

I think Nintendo should remake Star Tropics first. It needs to happen. It could be slightly remixed like A Link Between Worlds, or a proper remake. Admit it - you want it.

It's looking fabulous with mods and crap like that. Just make a new Deus Ex games that's up to it: it isn't that hard. HR was good. Related, waiting for the new mod to be released for my yearly playthrough.

Yes, I do want it, actually~ ... But it'll have to wait until we get a new F-Zero. The game would be perfect for the eSports scene, given its high intensity, skill needed and potentially breathtaking visuals. Plus, they could add in things like online play - something I don't think has been in an F-Zero game once, at all, ever. The day that game gets made is the day I die happily.

The day that game gets made is the day I die happily. That is actually what I'm afraid of when waiting for games I really want: They finally get made when I'm 93 years old and I just die right before I get to try them out. If Shenmue 3 is one of those games I swear to God I'll rise from my grave...

HR rubbed me the wrong way for whatever reason, I've been meaning to replay it and see if I like it more the second time around, but there was just so many little things that bothered me, from the lack of a dive bar in Detroit (what kind of Deus Ex game doesn't let you hang out at a dive bar? it's a tradition!) to the "yellow, yellow everywhere!" aesthetic, to the forgettable story and the AWFUL "push button, receive ending" finale. it felt just a little too much like completely different developers making their idea of a Deus Ex game rather than an actual Deus Ex game, you know what I mean? They should actually bring Warren Spector back for the next one, it's not like his career is going anywhere after those Mickey Mouse games.

Reading this entire thread from beginning and having fun at people wishing for remakes of Punch Out, Bionic Commando, FF4, FFT, Rocket Knight and OutRun Sure some of them got sequels or reboots rather than remakes, but I'm still curious wether those games lived up to expectations.

The only thing that pissed me off was the main character being such a tough, conflicted guy. I know it's a noir staple but JC seemed much less... mary sueish.
