...$100 plus some games? Or just straight up trade? Let me know what genre you like and perhaps we can work something out.

Just the cart is ok. Anything else is just bonus to me.
Err...just so you know, it may be hard for me to let go of any of my games, some would be VERY hard to let go. Let me know still what genres you like and I will consider it of course. If I can't let go of games you want, I will pay more of course. The cheapest Buy It Now I saw was $165+free shipping (cart only). I'm sure auctions end at least a little lower.

I was checking for a friend, he may or may not let it go depending on how life treats him.

I'd wait for an auction and try to snipe that. Honestly, at this point you're really better off just emulating it. It is a different sort of experience playing it on real hardware, but unless you can score a cheap old rental copy (which are surprisingly common) or one that's in kinda bad shape for under $100, it's not really worth the investment. I say this as a huge EB geek, but mostly because it really fucking sucks if you pay so much for a cart only to have it arrive with a dead or dying battery. If you don't have the know-how to replace it, you won't be saving your game, and you risk destroying something that you just paid a shit ton of money for.

Hmm...I think my wallet agrees with you. And at least a part of my brain agrees with my wallet. I'll try to snipe. I'll keep at it conservatively until I get a good idea how low I can go and still have a slim chance. Then I'll decide if it's worth it. I'm in no rush, seeing as how I prefer emulation for SNES anyway because 1. My crap computer handles up to 16-bit great and 2. I already have a ridiculous amount of systems out already (the current triforce and PS2 on TV in my room, Saturn and Dreamcast in another room). Looks like I won't resume playing right away. It's already almost midnight and I wanna finish Grappler Baki season 1. I do want to get to it right after that tho. Prolly in a few days. I have this thing Ike, where I very strongly like owning games I've beaten and enjoyed, especially RPG's. Having the real cart/disc/dl ("legit copy") is special to me since I kinda see them as trophies. Having said that, yeah, it may have to just consider it as prohibitively expensive EDIT: Just thought I'd mention to you guys when I emulate, I do use savestates. I won't go into detail about this but I use em in a way where I feel I can honestly say I beat the game without cheating (I know to some of you any savestating=cheating but I'm not here to change you're mind about that). I don't use them in the middle of a battle for instance.

I'd say you are safer going down the emulation route to be perfectly honest. I've not seen a loose copy go for less than $100 recently- heck, in the UK I've not seen it go for less than £100 in ages. I sold my own copy years ago for an absurd figure having finished it and although the big guide book was lovely I still think the most sensible option these days is to emulate.

Ok, that's it. It will remain prohibitively expensive to me; my wallet salutes you guys. I guess it will remain that way until money ain't a thing for me, which won't happen for a long time if at all 3rd Strike cab and EarthBound. SS Battle Garegga (actual board if I get a vert cab also). DC Under Defeat. Panzer Dragoon Saga. Hyper Duel. MML games (including Tron Bonne). SCD Popful Mail. SS SFZ3. Zanac x Zanac. I think I remembered most of my "prohibitively expensive" list. Some aren't nearly as outrageous as the others but I just feel they're not worth the usual ebay price. sigh. A guy can dream..."when I'M RICH, BITCH!!!" EDIT: Heck, if I get cabs then I'll prolly become a board collector lol. Some good ones are surprisingly cheap! (I know because my cousin collects shmups and btw yeah, he's got a good job). I know I'd try to get SSF2X right away as well. Final Fight, AvP, ESP Ra. De... If I ever get married, I just hope my wife is understanding of my hobby, if this hobby ever comes to fruition lol.

I'm mad because I missed a chance at a complete copy of Zanac x Zanac for cheap.

www.facebook.com/groups/retrogamerssaloon/This is one from my neck of the woods, based out of Arizona but connected to Texas and Cali as well. Fair prices with some haggling as most of these dudes are realistic and will not over value their games like most ebayers do.

And yes, I did mention it because some folks have Earthbound. There is one dude who has 10 of em but he's just a hoarding troll jerk.

That's half the fucking problem, people hoarde the game. It's not really even rare by the standards of its price tier, it's just that there are assholes out there who have 5 or more copies of the fucking thing and won't let go of them. Joke's on them when the batteries die, I guess!

Batteries can be easily replaced. I wouldn't be surprised if some people use/see that as a selling point, saying that it has a fresh new battery.
The real stupidity is in looking at games as an investment and assuming the value will continuously go up. Who would sit on a bunch of copies of Earthbound when they could have a considerable amount of cash (and one single copy) instead? I think it's already peaked about as much as it ever will. I'd be damned surprised if it went up higher to any significant degree, and there's a real risk that the price will eventually drop. Anyone convinced that there's no way, no how that the game will ever be released again officially in English in some form is just being delusional. I've never bought into this theory about some music prevents its re-release to begin with, but even if that was true, it's a simple matter of replacing whatever tiny bit of content could present legal issues. It'd be like arguing that Revenge of the Shinobi could never be released again because of the Spider-Man, Batman, Godzilla, etc. enemies it had originally, but obviously they were able to alter that content and even acquire the Spider-Man license for some time. And this is not even getting into how both SNES collecting/nostlagia and Ness/Lucas in Smash Bros. are real hot in recent years, but that will fade in time, just as interest in, say, the Atari 2600 spiked and then dropped back down along with prices across the board.
When I have a duplicate game to sell, I just sell right away. Over the years, some games have gone up in value since I've sold and others have gone down. Overall I think it's balanced out. If I sat on everything for years, I don't think I would've come out ahead any, and I would've had the annoyance of that stuff kicking around in my way (when they could be in someone else's hands getting played and enjoyed).

I think for Nintendo, it's a matter of honor. They're like fucking Klingons. They're pissed that we didn't "get" EarthBound the first time around but I do feel it will be released again someday too so the joke will be on those collectors who didn't sell high.
As for that dude with the 10 copies, he's local and I may have to collect his head, Predator-style.
