Five pages of painstaking data collection and you nitpick over a spelling mistake? In fairness, that's how it would be spelled in Japanese Katakana: Kyan-Be-Ru or キャンベル

Plus, that's how Konami actually romanized the name in the credits of Metal Gear 2 (scroll all the way down to the cast section), unlike the rest of the series which does it correctly. (They also spelled "Holly White" as "Horry White!") Either way, I saw the source of "Kyanbel" before and figured its use in this article was a sly reference to it.

I guess it would have been more consistent if I'd taken the weird spellings for all the names, but... yeah, when I grabbed most of the portraits from those credits scroll screenshots, I saw that and liked it.

Hey guys, I think while there are some really cool comparisons in this article, some of the match ups are pushing it a little. For example, the cover for Weaponlord. Saying that Simon Bisley was "inspired" or was "looking at other artists drawings a little bit too much" when creating it is pushing it a bit. If you look him up, you'll find he was a very accomplished artist himself back then, if he still isn't. And he used to draw tons of that "Conan style" for comics and other media.

That actually doesn't have to mean anything. Also, while it's perfectly obvious that it isn't traced or anything (and I don't think the description claims that), you can't tell me that Bisley wasn't aware of that 2nd Frazetta illustration when he designed that cover. And: As for the main article, the Weaponlord cover isn't a direct swipe, but there's a definite Frazetta influence. The artist, Simon Bisley, is a big Frazetta fan.

This guy is clearly Billy Drago. I'm surprised none of the people who made The Untouchables connections didn't see it. And I know this guy. I can feel it in my bones. I'm just completely blanking out on what movies (there were many) I saw him in. BTW I registered just because of this awesome article after lurking for many years. Will you guys be at PAX East again next year?

As for the Metal Gear faces. I think the similiarity is still there a bit in MGS4, at least in terms of Big Boss and Col. Campbell. Well, that's excactly how I imagined Campbell in real-life, though he looks much thinner in the games by now As for Master Miller's portrait, it seems familiar but I have no idea from where. Somehow it reminds me a bit of Dean Stockwell Anyway, the whole article is as great as it is hilarious. Impressive how they all got away with this^^

I don't see any similarity to Natalie Imbruglia whatsoever, except a little for the hair, which Imbruglia also had short in various points of her carreer. Also, Shadow over Riva was released in 1996. Imbruglia became really famous in 1997 when she started to sing after starring on "Neighbours". So, unlikely. The second resembles Michelle Pfeiffer imho.
