One I saw on the GTA Wikia: sourceAnother one... The running section from Ocean's Nightbreed: The Interactive Movie has its running sprite traced from a digitized sprite from an earlier game by Ocean, Run the Gauntlet.

This cover looks familiar: Any ideas?

Van Damme from a photoshoot for the movie Cyborg: He does that pose a lot, though, so it's not necessarily even traced from this one, but I'd bet it's Van Damme.

Yeah, you're probably right, a very Van Damme pose. Thanks.

Yeah, part of me was thinking Kickboxer or Bloodsport, but the Bloodsport cover has a different arm pose. I mean, this one's closer, but not the exact trace.

I contacted the artist from ShadowRun, but he said that after getting threatened by a lawsuit for ripping faces in another game, the company he worked for instead used faces from local people-politicians, bodybuilders, etc. On top of that, he also said that they'd take those faces, but apply different lighting scenarios to them so as to differentiate them further. Interesting, I really thought the main guy looked like Charles Dance...
This is a little different than images, but thought this was interesting. Found this out by actually watching the movie it was 'ripped' from. The opening theme from Xenon 2: Megablast by the Bitmap Bros is suspiciously similar to the main theme of John Carpenter's film Assault on Precinct 13.
Xenon 2: Similarities start about 15 seconds in.
Assault on Precinct 13: About 10 seconds in. It's pretty uncanny.

The Xenon 2 music is official and they promoted the game with that music, it never was a secret

An that's true for all Bitmap Brothers games.

Oh, I'm sure others have pointed it out in the past, just wanted to post it here. Anyway, got a couple more swipes here: Frazetta's "Luana" character can be seen in the background of the Ghost Battle cover that was brought up here earlier. The main dude in the middle is definitely ripped from a John Buscema Conan the Barbarian drawing. I know exactly which one too, but I can't find it anywhere on google or anything. Also, the Ghouls 'n Ghosts IBM cover was more or less a direct rip from the Ghouls 'n Ghosts Arcade sideart, which was also used in promotional flyers and such. (Shown after the IBM cover). Needless to say I like the Arcade version better of course, done by comic artist Frank Cirocco.

Wouldn't the G and G one be on purpose? I mean, if the 2nd picture is on the arcade cabinent, I'd imagine they chose to use it for the puposes of being recognised as offical artwork, while at the same time, re-doing it a style that would be more in line with that companies other releases, or the style of art people would be used to seeing in whatever country that port came out in. I dunno, it just seems a little funny to include the G and G pictures when they're both from the same game and on offical releases, ya know? Just IMHO

Just IMHO Reason I put it up was that the other version (non-arcade) was brought up in the thread earlier and the poster was curious if had ripped anything, as it just had 'that vibe' about it. So on the off-chance that anyone didn't know, I thought I'd post it. I figured It was just Capcom's way of making things easier for the other illustrator.

deimosremus Buscema drew that Conan pose like a billion times, the outfit consisting of a half torn shirt and straight fabric tunic was seen in early 70's comics and later when he was king, but generally Buscema drew a fur tunic and kept Conan barechested so here's just one solid example from SSOC 21 (1977) by John Buscema (left pic, black & white). The cover of Ghost Battle (right pic) is pretty damn close, right down to the shadows and all :

Yep, that's the one! I'm aware that Buscema drew Conan in similar poses very often, but geez, you seem to have found THE exact panel that was ripped. Nice find! The little fugly goblin dude on the left looks more or less traced from (if not, then heavily influenced by) Frazetta's interpretation of Gollum, right down to the shape of the ears and the attempt to mimic the lighting. It seems as though the artist wanting to fit more of the goblin on the cover, changed the pose a little, but it makes it look as though he's takin' a dump or something. Also, the addition of little horns and a loincloth.

While I was lazily browsing the Disgaea article, I found this: Can we put it as another example of Cabal-inspired artwork?
