Found one for the "Rambo with rocket launcher" pile, the cover to the Simple 2000 series release Gekito! Meiro King, released in Europe as Maze Action.

Pretty sure I've seen the illustration this is based on before, but I can't find it again. Any ideas?

Is that Guile in the background? Guile himself is kind of a ripoff of Stroheim from JoJo's Bizarre adventure, at least his appearance is. Although Rose is an even worse one, she's practically the same character as Lisa Lisa. I guess Capcom just used to be huge Jojo's fans even before they got the official license. So was SNK, considering Benimaru looks like Polnareff...

Speaking of Jojo stuff, I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but... Also, Bladedamus' mask is a thinly-disguised stone mask from Jojo.

Oh, cool. What's the name of the character? That one is Esidisi (named after AC/DC - the author was referencing bands at the time rather than fashion staples). Here's the other Jojo references in the last level - someone will need to get clean screenshots though, I took these from a Youtube video: Santana (after the band of the same name) - also there's an image of one of the Stone Masks but I couldn't find the reference image. Wamuu (from "Wham!") Kars (from "Cars") EDIT: also I just realized it, but the skull in the background for the last boss fight vs. Bladedamus is from one of Noriyoshi Ohrai's covers for the "Genma Taisen" series (which is about post-apocalyptic shit, and was ripped off by the Aum death cult).

Amazing finds there!
I wonder if the Ninja Gaiden Black and Virtual Console Arcade versions changed any of that, especially considering the latter apparently cut out some stuff (some of the religious imagery, as well as one of the boss themes due to it supposedly sounding like Black Sabbath's Iron Man)

It wouldn't surprise me if they left the JoJo ripped background stuff in, but yeah the level two boss is a huge ripoff of The Road Warriors tag team from the then WWF (moves and all), whose theme song at that time was Iron Man: Hehee:
