I think it's almost save to assume that the uncredited articles are Kurt's, probably from before people started to contribute stuff. Just my guess, of course, correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree it's a good idea, however, you keep forgetting that this site uses plain old manual html. Which means, that the date isn't added automatically and you have to manually add or edit it in each time.
There are lots of articles missing stuff, simple things. Things that could be added in less than 30 seconds and Kurt (or the other editors, if they are allowed) usually don't fix it. Do you really think they, 6 months from now, are going to keep track of dates and add them accordingly? Sure, someone right now might go through all the articles and add the dates. But that's only because it's a new and exiting idea. Give it 6 months to start seeing articles with outdated and incorrect dates.
Take it from a guy with a website that also uses plain old manual & tedious html. I learned that the less stuff you have to update to each page, the better.
Now if there was a script that automatically added the date everytime the html file is modified, then that would be great! But this day in age, where normal html is dead, I doubt there's someone making new scripts to do simple things like that.

Well, I wouldn't want an updated date for every single time a page is modified. That would defeat the purpose because then someone will be reading through the article again or scouring for new content even when the change is just a minor fix. Updating the date should be reserved for when a new section is added or a similar significant change. You know, something that's usually mentioned in the updates on the main page.
I have a plain HTML web site myself, one I work on in Notepad, and when I make an update, I type out the date. Simple as that. The date should be added to the articles when they first go up, and then when someone is working on the page, writing a new section, it's as simple as replacing some numbers.

Yes, but it's just another thing to keep track of and eventually people will forget to modify the date.
I'm not against the idea, I just would hate to see the site 4 years from now with outdated dates because people keep forgetting to modify it and by the time they remember, it's too late and they have to put a fake date.

I've been meaning to do this for awhile but the only one that has it is the Megaten article, because it's one of the most popular.
It's really not a hard thing to add, it's mostly just me forgetting. Hell, I forget to even spellcheck things every once in awhile. By the time I'm assembling everything for a front page update I usually just want to get it over with, hit upload and do something else for a bit.
I also want to add links to the discussions here in the forums, because we all know the search function blows. I'll try to keep that in mind, assuming I can get this update out before the week's end.

I also want to add links to the discussions here in the forums, because we all know the search function blows. That would be cool too. Another thing I'd like would be if the authors name's were clickable and would lead to a list of everything he/she has written.

If wanted, I could make a list for that (the author thing, not the dates) like the Genre/Theme/Company ones.

Apparently you can right-click a page in Firefox, select View Page Info, and get a Last Modified date.

I don't think that's going to work in a way that would be helpful to the readers. I just did that with a bunch of articles that I don't believe have been updated in a significant way (if they were ever altered significantly since their debut) in a very long time, and practically all I'm getting is July '09 and Jan 10, 2010. I don't know if those were times in which there a lot of articles were cleaned up for typos or whatever, but in terms of knowing when a new game has been added to the article or some other form of additional sections, it's not helpful.

The latest it's going to go back is the summer of last year or so, when the site moved off Gamespy.

I'm making the author list, but there's a lot of stuff with no author mentioned. Do you have record/recollection about those articles (I'm guessing most are by yourself...):
Alex Kidd Alien Syndrome Altered Beast Asteka / Tombs & Treasures Athena Black Belt / Hokuto no Ken Brandish Bubsy Cho Aniki Compile Shooters Cooking Fighter Hao Cotton Crusader: No Regret / Remorse Cyber Lip Darius Dinosaur Dragon Slayer The Feeble Files Gunner's Heaven / Rapid Reload Gunners Heart Keio Flying Squadron The Legend of Valkyrie Machinarium Natsume NES Action Games Power Instinct / Gouketsuji Ichizoku Prince of Persia Puyo Puyo Rolling Thunder Sparkster Sunsoft Fighting Games Tifatan X Tokimeki Memorial Urban Yeti! Wonder Boy Xanadu Ys Zillion

Yup, all me on those.
Actually don't put anything on Tifatan X, I left that uncredited for a reason.
