PS: Gotta see some pics of all the stuff you bought. Pretty please. OK, took some pics: Assorted boxed Famicom carts, including Getsu Fuuma Den with lenticular card, which was the priciest of the bunch. Up top is Esper Dream 2, Lagrange Point and Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2. Assorted games in there are The Goonies, Yume Penguin Monogatari, Famicom Wars, Fire Emblem, Wai Wai World 2, Twinbee 3, Radia Senki, Ys, and Maze of Galious. Two Mark III games too: Golvellius and Super Wonder Boy: Loose cheap FC carts from the junk bin, including the Tom Sawyer RPG and Devil World, along with some boxed Game Boy games (including Trip World, which is apparently quite sought after?) and all my FDS games...most of the noteworthy stuff like Nazo no Murasamejou, both Zeldas, Metroid, Mario 2, Doki Doki Panic, Almana no Kiseki, and a few adventure gamey things like Shin Onigashima (only the first disc) and Famicom Detective Club. Technically I bought Meikyuu Jiin Dababa, Bio Miracle Upa and Palthena no Kagami on eBay after I got back, but eh: Game music CDs, mostly. Fave of the bunch is the Monster World collection. Also, Gradius III Symphonic, Espgaluda, Mario and Zelda Big Band, Suikoden, and Valkyria Chronicles. Also, a few Touhou games: Various cheap PSOne games. Pop'n Tanks by Irem is up top and looks sorta neat. Also replaced by cat peed copies of Sexy Parodius, Dragon Quest IV and Tales of Phantasia: Assorted. Some doujin games, including Satazius (in the recent update) and Crimzon Clover, along with the two Touhouvanias. Some cheap DS stuff that never came out here: ASH, Blood of Bahamut and Sigma Harmonics. PSP stuff that didn't make it over, like Last Ranker, Senjou no Valkyria 3, Coded Soul and some of the Konami shooter collections. Only current gen games I got were Mamoru-kun PS3 and Akai Katana Shin: Various boxed Super Famicom carts, mostly to round out my Konami and Shin Megami Tensei collection. Two of the Shooting Gameside books, plus five books on old Japanese PC RPGs/adventure games which I mentioned in last update:

Great pics and purchases. Thanks for that. Never knew Mamoru-kun was also released on the PS3. Did it come out significantly later than the 360 release? And isn't Contra 3 quite expensive in Japan or was it just the first Contra?

Super awesome haul.
How much did Valkyria Senjou 3 cost? The sheen on the box makes it look sealed, is it? With it growing increasingly unlikely that VS3/VC3 will ever see a Western localisation, I keep thinking I should shell out for it and complete it in Japanese like I did Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3. The demo showed much promise.
Are you a fan of the series? Does it want an HG101 feature? The anime was pretty awful, especially the obsessively literal fan-sub. Ugh.

Wow very nice stuff. Isn't Thunder Cross a doujin game that was meant to be Thunder Force VI and even had music done by the TF composer? I heard that it sucked and got pulled from shelves but I guess that's a used copy. Of course the real question I have is "Why the hell was Crypt Killer called Henry Explorer in Japan?" xD

Yeah, it came out earlier in the year complete with a new mode made for widescreen and the DLC characters included. Most of the Contra games are pricey over there, but Super Contra and Contra The Hard Corps are more expensive than the original game or Contra Spirits. How much did Valkyria Senjou 3 cost? Are you a fan of the series? Does it want an HG101 feature? The anime was pretty awful, especially the obsessively literal fan-sub. Ugh. Going price was still 3500-4000 yen used. My copy was 3000 because the instruction manual was slightly crumpled. This is the best way to look for discounts on used stuff! I loved the PS3 game but I didn't beat it. I bought the sequel day one, but it being on the PSP and the general negative word of mouth put me off from playing more than a mission. I played a bit of third one when traveling and it seems a bit better. This game uses the same basic engine but the story seems less embarrassing. I've heard there are other tweaks too. I would like to do an article some day. Wow very nice stuff. Isn't Thunder Cross a doujin game that was meant to be Thunder Force VI and even had music done by the TF composer? I can't even find it a ripped copy on the internet (it came out like the week after I was there in 2007 but disappeared quickly.) I wouldn't mind trying it more for curiosity's sake. That CD here is the soundtrack to the Konami arcade game Thunder Cross. It's covered in the Konami shooter article if you're curious. No idea about Henry Explorers though!

Ohh that's right, I've actually played both Thunder Cross games on Mame, they were quite nice! There are a couple of Broken Thunder videos on YouTube but I can't find anything past stage 2.

For some stupid reason I put 82 hours into VC2, despite finding it horribly flawed compared to the first (grinding for randomly allocated level-up items is disgraceful). It's on my modded PSP, so I'm good to go screenshot crazy if you want them. I also have a completed PS3 save file, and the fansubbed anime. Put it on the list for after the dozen or so other things that are on the list.

Most of the Contra games are pricey over there, but Super Contra and Contra The Hard Corps are more expensive than the original game or Contra Spirits. It's usually the other way around from my experience with Yahoo Japan Auctions. I've never seen the Famicom version of Super Contra exceed 3,000 yen, but complete copies of the original tend to sell around 5,000-8,000 yen (I'm guessing it's because of the extra content not in the NES version, thus more demand from overseas buyers). Contra: The Hard Corps and Vampire Killer both tend to be in high demand though. It's the Japanese version of Crypt Killer

We knew it was Crypt Killer, but can't figure out what on earth "Henry Explorers" is supposed to mean in relation to the game.

I thought so too, but I could swear I saw some boxed Contra copies go for like 4000+ while Super Contra was more like 5000 or so. It's true that the original game has more appeal to foreigners though - probably just differences in the local economy. Hard Corps seems to have gone down in price. I used to remember seeing it for around 8000 but the Mandaraka in Osaka had it for like 4500-ish. There was even one in the discount bin at Super Potato (where I got Contra Spirits too) and it was only 5000. I don't remember seeing Vampire Killer at all though.

Wow that's some epic grabs right there! I see you got your hands on a copy of Trip World and you're aware of it's rareness, so I'm thinking you probably won't sell it right off the bat, but I'm a guy who hold my hopes up... Are you willing to sell it, to a Norwegian, and if yes, for how much? Hope to hear from you Disco, and again grats with the loot.

Not up to selling anything just yet...but in case I get laid off at any time, one of my backup plans is to open a video game store and sell some of my stuff, so I guess keep your eyes open if that ever happens.

I see. If you open for sales, can't you message me? Or I'll just be lurking around every now and then. Great games are hard to sell.
