The podcast is now available! Grab it here! The month of March brings us Blue Stinger, a decidedly bizarre survival horror title and one of the first games ever on the Dreamcast. Blue Stinger (Dreamcast)Sixty-five million years ago, a meteorite crashes into the Yucatán Peninsula, subsequently wiping out the dinosaurs and paving the way for humans. Now, in 2000, an island emerges where the meteorite is thought to have landed, and is granted the name "Dinasaur Island." A biotech corporation then takes up shop on the island. In 2018, Eliot Ballade, an elite member of the ESER (Emergency Sea Evacuation and Rescue) forces, is vacationing near Dinasaur Island when something falls from the sky and leaves the island sealed under a mysterious dome of energy. When a mysterious, ethereal being called Nephilim shows up to chase Ballade, he takes it upon himself to solve the enigma of Dinasaur Island.[1] Wikipedia's Blue Stinger Article PRO TIPPZ:[/color] ~ Snarboo Once you enter the staff room, everywhere is out of the supplies you need except the second floor of the shopping area. You're going to have to get those emergency shutters open - which since its kind of completely illogical - is a control panel in storage room 2 that is accessed through a box puzzle. ~ KaL Ah, I figured out the trick with the Wrestling shirt: You have to press the attack button while standing about two feet apart from any given enemy, wherein Dogs busts out an actually pretty powerful dropkick. Alsof you put a great distance between yourself and an enemy, Dogs rushes at them with a shoulder tackle. ~ Sotenga Snarboo gives some pointers on the joys of swimming!nickz gives a thorough walkthrough on the Power Plant!Snarboo gives a helpful diagram on a certain Power Plant puzzle!KaL helps out at a critical point in the Labs!Snarboo responds to a query KaL made regarding the labs!SPECIAL CHALLENGE: Who here will undertake Snarboo's contest? Despite possible logistics issues (i.e., whether it will work on emulation), I'm voting Blue Stinger all the way. I really want to talk about Masaki Segawa, damnit.

Blue Stinger. Because I've played Chaotix -- one such playthrough is on youtube even -- and I don't use my Dreamcast enough.

Voting for Blue Stinger as well. Emulation be damned, I'm not playing Chrono Cross.

Never heard of Blue Stinger, but I've been meaning to play the other two for a while. Think I'll throw my vote towards Chaotix though, if just to finish off all the Genesis era Sonic games.

Well you know I'd love to vote Chrono Cross, but I've kind of beaten it. It's a long story, I've never seen the ending and it's been years...
I'm going to vote for Chaotix. The only one of that era I hadn't beaten.

Knuckles Chaotix. I've already tried Chrono Cross and wasn't into it. Also, Knuckles Chaotix gives me an excuse to play more 32X. I love the 32X.
If things go right, then I'll have a lot more free time later this month, so I should be able to participate in this Game Club.

Chrono Cross, mainly to have an excuse to finally play it.

Blue Stinger, but with the caveat of having to play the Japanese version instead of (or in addition to) the US release. The changes to the US release really altered the gameplay and feeling of the game, almost foreshadowing the evolution of the survival horror genre years down the line. While the original is more in line with the classic survival horror template (albeit with a Christmasy setting), moving the camera behind the character made it feel like an appropriate transition to something like Resident Evil 4. or something.
It's better than Deep Fear at least.

Fudge, these options don't work well for me. I don't like Chrono Cross (outside of the music and art, which I love) and don't feel like replaying it, and I don't own the other two (and don't want to mess with emulation). I've watched Blue Stinger in action plenty, though, and I hope that wins because every gamer needs to be familiar with Dogs Bower. :P

Did I miss some kind of Blue Stinger renaissance? Isn't that one of the absolute worst games on the Dreamcast?

There were worse games for the system, such as The Ring: Terror's Realm. Blue Stinger isn't all that bad, it's just not great either.
I'm going to abstain from voting given it's pretty close right now.
