Vanity posting in this thread: www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3153317&did=1I wrote this like months ago. I was initially pretty disappointed in it because I didn't get remotely as many interviews as I wanted, but actually seeing it with all of the pictures, I think it turned out pretty decent.

It's a great article Kurt I was kind of hoping you would have mentioned how American boxarts get changed for Japan too.

Good article, although you forgot to mention that the Japanese version of Zelda 1 was originally released on the Famicom Disk System in 1986.
I always thought that the original Japanese boxart for the first Mega Man/Rockman game was better.

Heh, I have the European Mega Man 2 you speak of, it's cover always brings back memories of that irritating Dr Wily Stage where the boss is the turrets behind the walls that can only be destroyed by the Crash man attack. I would be rather ashamed to admit how long it took me to beat that boss :\
I can't believe no-one has commented on that rather horrifying Pac-Man cover...

I'd like to mention that Capcom of Europe still sucks ass in the cover department: Euro Sample US SampleNotice how they completely removed the awesome title and replaced it with that hollow shell of a title? And if I went back to X8...seriously, they had some basic copy-paste art with a freaking star effect in the background! Actually, that's basically any MM cover artwork here in Europe! Okay, so they went a little softer with the Zero series, and hopefully they won't touch the ZX packaging. But I'll never forgive that horrible base artwork + star effect concept every series had to endure.

Good article, although you forgot to mention that the Japanese version of Zelda 1 was originally released on the Famicom Disk System in 1986. That's relevant how? Kurt got it right in the article. Just for fun, I should mention that I have both variants. Whose scans did you use for the game, Kurt? If you don't mind saying.

Okay! I knew (or was pretty sure, anyway) that the Zelda 1 wasn't mine because of the bits above the logo that look like cartridge discoloring/damage - mine doesn't have any of that.

Are we supposed to care? I could stub my toe and it would make Kotaku.

Yup. I didn't mention American->Japan changesbecause I'd already covered that here and I thought it would've been redundant - although many more people read 1up than here, so.
I had initially intended to show the European MM Zero covers, but I couldn't get a solid reason for the switch, and already spent a few paragraphs focusing on Capcom.
