www.hardcoregaming101.net/myhero/myhero.htmThis article complements the Dragon Wang / Kung Fu Kid one. This is mostly known from the SMS version, being a My Card title released in the early days of the system. More interesting is that there was actually an arcade version. Nowadays, the best thing about it is that its American cover illustration seems to have inspired the artwork for Capcom's God Hand: I always though the punk in the My Hero cover seemed oddly amused about being smacked in the face. Looks like we'll need a better cover image too, since that watermark is there. It's one of the few SMS games I don't own, though that's okay because I kind of hate it.

Did something happen to the cover of God Hand? I thought that was supposed to go through his head not 6 inches to his right...

Gotta love those American Master System box-arts. Is there a reason for the terrible designs? Why did they keep doing the bad illustrations that take up 15% of the box thing?

Fixed that cover. On closer look, it's also the European version, cause the American MyCard releases all have that hand holding the Card (but the motif on that card is the same).

i don't think those were limited to a region, some were universally terrible as I recall.

European and US SMS releases always had the same cover art AFAIK. My Hero has been originally released as a card game and those copies had the hand-holds-card cover. With the SMS mark 2 most (all?) card games were re-released as cartridge games, since the mark 2 didn`t have the card slot. So this is the re-release cover.

Played this years ago, and bloody hated the fact it had no ending. I just thought that the "constantly kidnapping your girlfriend" subplot was kinda badly in need of a resolution.

Great update, this and the other titles. There's no way I'm leaving this site with updates like these (yay, no more too much PC adventures!). The highlight of Devil Summoners is great because they're definitely quality titles (just not something I'd let my future kids play until they're old enough).
And I love the new look!

Like the writer of this article I used to think that My Hero was a rather bad game but upon playing it again I found it to be quite fun, especially the parts where it turns into more of a Pitfall clone. Of course, history was stacked against it from the start, since it didn't get a release on the NES.
It certainly beats playing Super Mario Brothers...

I'm not even a fan of Mario and was a Sega kid in the 90s (my brother was Nintendo, we argued about it all the time), but it's been my experience that whenever someone puts Super Mario Bros. on everyone wants a turn.

The physics are the main hindrance in the original SMB. You feel like a brick trying to do ballet.
