Great article. MK is one of my favorite franchise due to the story, characters, and even live-action films.

I shouldn't have nitpicked on that one typo. Did the stores just have different box art, or was there exclusive content?

I shouldn't have nitpicked on that one typo. That's what article discussions are for, at least initially, to point out mistakes, no matter how trivial. It'll stop being nitpicking when you stop being apologetic or aggressive about it and just say what's what neutrally.

This is live now! I also tacked on a few paragraphs at the end about the awesome Mortal Kombat: The Album.

Shit, forgot all about that. Smart thinking.

Fixing some more typos. I was really confused for a second there regarding Justice League Task Force until I realized that Destro was supposed to be Despero...

Wow, is this really a thing? It seems completely different from what the UMK3 engine should be able to handle. Of course, if Noob Saibot is only in the unMAMEd version, we may never know...
How exactly do you exploit the AI in UMK3, anyway? Obviously it is the key to victory, but how is it done?

The part about "pain, disappointment, and Hsu Hao" made me laugh. What was up with that guy?
This article is a pleasant surprise and a big nostalgia trip. ^_^
I'm not certain, but I remember hearing that Special Forces was finished enough for review copies, but wasn't actually released at retail.

Pretty sure it got an actual release. You can get the CD image on emulation sites if you'd like to see how it turned out.

No, I can promise you that Special Forces was an actual thing. I think I might have ended up with a copy a while back, although that could be some kind of demented fever dream of mine. Also, when I say "at the same time", what I meant is that it's an Endurance match where you fight one, than the other. Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer!
