Just received a tweet regarding the Saturn version of MK2 and its loading issues that they thought should be mentioned. Apparently it stops to load when the first special movie is executed, and it drops the resolution when you fight Shang Tsung? I knew about the loading when he transforms: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2NoKsVmyzM

Interesting that they went with the DOS versions. I was kind of hoping they'd finally remove the GFWL from Mortal Kombat Kollection and this was it. But hey, at least the DOS versions are decent ports.

They're honestly probably the best ports of the time, in terms of accuracy and lack of loading times, I'd say. Funny how well they turned out comapred to the first SF2 PC ports, which were just dire.

This is amazing I dunno about MK3, but like the guys above mentioned MK1+2 were the best ports of these games for the longest time (arguably still, due to weird sound glitches, GFWL, and AFAIK no low res support in the recent ports).

So I bought the GOG version and have tried the first game so far and holy crap is it hideous, is there any way to apply any filters like scanlines or something to make it less pixelated?

Yes, the SF2 port was atrocious, and SSF2 was, just, meh. However, SSF2T for DOS is really really good - very faithful to the arcade, fast, plays well and with awesome CD music. I also agree that the DOS ports of MK are probably the best. MK3 is a bit disappointing in execution (a bit sloppy here and there), as is the fact that there is no UMK3.

"this ends up being as hilarious as it dark." - "as it's"? "as dark"?

The info box for Mortal Kombat X incorrectly lists Midway as the developer and publisher.

Now all that's missing is an Injustice article. I think what surprised me the most about that game was how unexpectedly violent it was; especially in comparison to MK vs. DC. They actually toned down the game a bit for the release, compared to the demo footage shown at E3.

Really, I'm still trying to understand the logic of including the profiles of those DC characters. It's like if you made a character page for Street Fighter characters and included the X-Men.

Mostly to maintain consistency, and also give a look at how the character was visually represented in the game.

Midway was first known as a pinball manufacturer Bally Midway. Then they distributed Namco's Puck-Man as Pac-Man, then produced a retcon(?) sequel Ms. Pac-Man. They also were known for Defender and Spy Hunter. Then while Mortal Kombat was released, NBA Jam series (including my favorite, HangTime) began way before EA bought it. Then Midway, Nintendo and in one of them, Rareware, began partnering to popularizing Killer Instinct and Cruis'n USA and their sequels. Nowadays, Like Makoto Mizoguchi being more popular than the main character Ray McDougal in Data East's Fighter's History trilogy, despite Liu Kang being the protagonist, Sub-Zero and especially Scorpion overshadowed his popularity by being more prominent thanks to their trademark moves. From the "ESRB head rip" to the "Come here!"/"Get over here!" ones. I heard some people only appreciated MK way over every other Midway game.

Speaking of consistency, I think we should just push the DC character bios to the bottom along with the other guest characters.
Also, why are Shao Kahn, Goro & Kintaro's bios not using their MK9 artwork? And for that matter why not update everything with the MKX artwork?
