The allies assault team was bought by Activision who then became infinity ward. That's where the connection is. As for modern warfare, it's well worth a play. It's got some fantastic set pieces and is pretty much a great piece of anti war fiction before the series turned into a pro war gun wankathon. Then they became Respawn which was bought out by EA. I hope they don't fuck with them, but they walked out when they were 2015. They also walked out as IW because of them not getting paid their royalties. BTW, I did some contract work for them and it was pretty fun place to work at.

So Nier: Automata is even more depressing than its predecessor. Quite a feat, really.

I really want to play Nier: Automata and I already own it. but it's going to be hard to fit it in with everything else I want to play over the next few months.
2018 is the year that I'm really starting to feel crushed under the weight of my back catalog.

And it will only get worse... I know and it's really starting to freak me out a bit. I think it's because I played a LOT of games in 2017 and yet I still didn't play everything I wanted to get played in the year even though I never went more than a couple of weeks without playing something. So it's dawning on me that everything I want to play in 2018 I probably won't be able to do so, so I better choose wisely and having to figure out what I want to play the most is stressing me out when I want to play everything on my list. Just uggggggggh, what I wouldn't give to be able to pause time for an extra month or two.

The best mindest is really to realize that you'll never play everything you'd like to in your lifetime anyways, so just play what you feel like playing at the moment and don't freak out over self-imposed things like yearly quotas or lists made way in advance etc.

And the way I do it is, I don't sit down and write an actual list, it's always something in my head and I never plan things out too far in advance, basically I do play whatever I feel like playing at the moment but I also try to keep a vague plan about a month or two in advance, but it's always subject to change. The problem though is you never really know how long something will take you, especially when you're talking these modern open world games.

Maybe that's just me, but I find myself spending too much fucking time talking games and not enough playing them. I really have a hard time stepping away from the Internet, even though maybe 70% of the time I spend on it is clearly wasted, and doing something that would actually be more rewarding instead.

I actually felt nier automata was the most upbeat of yoko taros work. especially the ending sentiment.
Still ducking miserable though.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
This game is still super hard. Like omg. I just finished with the Police Station, and I think I still consider this one of the hardest games in the entire series (with maybe Resident Evil 7 giving it some competition in terms of difficulty).

I haven't actually played Resident Evil 3 since 2004, so I don't remember a whole lot about it.
I last played 2 in 2014 by contrast.

I actually felt nier automata was the most upbeat of yoko taros work. especially the ending sentiment. Still ducking miserable though. Most upbeat Yoko Taro is like healthiest MC Donalds menu: It's still killing you from the inside. --- Picked up Dragon Quest VII again, which I started almost a year ago and am playing on and off because I really can't quite get into it. The 3DS remake isn't even that much longer, actually, I'm at just over 50h and defeated Ogodemir for the first time, so the ending will probably roll along within the next ten hours, and that's about as long as it took for me to get trough IX or the original version of VIII. It just feels so long ond draggy. The little vignettes could be cute, but they are exhaustingly wordy for a DQ game, to the point where it almost feels like Yuji Horii would have rather made another adventure game at times. Seems also very telling that about 90% of the stuff you steal from townsfolks is miniscule gold, terribly outdated equip, and literal shit... in result searching towns feels almost like a big waste of your time, if it wasn't for the odd mini medal or one piece of decent equip here or there. That encapsules the game quite nicely for me right there. I don't even really hate the game or anything, at least in this still snappier version, but I guess there is just so much you can do to try to salvage the original, and the result still won't quite click with me.
