Luigi's Mansion 3 came out a couple days ago. Haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'm glad the reviews seem to be very positive, Luigi's Mansion 2 was one of the best 3DS games. Still haven't played my previous Switch game though: DQXI hasn't yet left its case, and it came out late september. But I really don't want to play two RPGs at the same time, and I hadn't finished Final Fantasy yet. And next week, Pokémon Shield is coming out. I will have to break my one-RPG-at-a-time rule for that to avoid spoilers. At least there's nothing else coming out this year that I really have to have day one. Though Terry will probably release some time this week, so that'll take up some time too. Very excited to learn about the 5th Fighter's pass character. It was supposed to be the last DLC fighter originally, so I wonder if they were planning to go out with a bang. Banjo and Hero were already quite huge, so it's hard to imagine anything to top those characters' hype. Maybe something that'll be a big deal in Japan as well as the west. What the heck, Luigi's Mansion 3 is already out? I had no idea. In other news I finished the main game of Witcher 3 and bought the PC version of RDR2 which I'm hearing is having some issues which really pisses me off, like come on Rockstar, you had a year for the PC version and you still can't release without issues? So I'm not sure what I want to play next while I wait for that to hopefully be patched soon.

So it looks like either the Mallow costume leak is either fake or going to be released later.

Kind of dissapointed there wasn't anything that interesting to reveal, but ah well. It's probably for the better he talked so much about the history of SNK/Neo Geo/Terry, because when Terry was revealed I saw a whole lot of people who had no idea about those things. 50 songs for one stage is kind of insane. EDIT: By the way, I found it kind of amusing that Sakurai aknowledged the fact Mai wasn't included as a cameo because of problems with the rating. Goes to show how much Nintendo lets Sakurai do his own thing. Like how he talks about the Neo Geo X and in the Banjo stream about the Xbox One. So it looks like either the Mallow costume leak is either fake or going to be released later. A Mallow hat is exactly the kind of stuff hoaxers would make, so I'm calling fake. There have already been so many model swap mods that I really don't see any reason why I'd believe any Mii costume 'leaks'.

Been playing a lot of Atelier Ryza and it's a real return to form for the series. Ryza might be the best protagonist the series has had and her companion Lent has a very compelling character arc as he deals with his alcoholic father. Atelier series is light and breezy but deals with some very emotional themes at times. The game is a hell of a lot more linear than previous entries. the story is linear and you don't have a choice of companions. It's also much easier to keep up with side stories... it might even be impossible to miss them. No time limit either and only the one ending. You can still have fun with the synthesis system. Anyway I think it's an excellent starting point for the next trilogy and a great entry point for people new to the series.

Thought I'd have fun with Bit.trip runner in-between some longer games but apparently it's old school in the worst ways possible and doesn't even do anything particularly interesting with the rhythm element. Next!

I liked Bit.trip runner but remember that there's a significantly evil difficulty spike very early on. One of the levels is just insanely tough. Once you beat it the rest of the gam never gets as difficult.

Did anyone here end up buying the Genesis Mini? I haven't heard much news about it at all. Is it already sold out everywhere? Is it as hackable as the NES/SNES mini?

Oh my God, that's such a goddamn bop! I had no idea what I was expecting, especially since I didn't know all that much about the game it comes from, but that's a fantastic arrangement that really feels like it fell straight out of the the late-80s. (That guitar solo combined with the backing vocals after the second verse legit gave me goosebumps.) I'm not a Smash Bros fan, but I gotta start checking out more of these remixes to see what else is out there, so thanks for posting that!

Wow, I love how Smash Bros. contracts prominent composers to revive lost and nearly forgotten music tracks.
Yuzo Koshiro has down a nice job of updating the sounds, like keeping the basic overall feel and music notation from the original arcade track.

The Overseas version also has a neat saxophone part.

Once you beat it the rest of the gam never gets as difficult. I guess you're referring to the second to last level of world 1? Yeah it's like 4x as long as previous levels. But then the boss is mostly memorization as well which is simply not enjoyable when combined with one hit deaths and no checkpoints.
