Not gonna lie, the Pokemon special edition Switch Lite is kinda sexy. And currently 200 instead of 230 bucks. So I'm really tempted. Even though it would collect dust until the end of February xD
You're not kidding about Japan's 2nd hand market. I recently picked up a complete-in-box Breath of Fire and Final Fantasy VI for Super Famicom. I would definitely call it very good. Yeah, just last week I got Sakura Taisen 3. An 18 year old Dreamcast game. Not a single scratch on any of the 3 discs, not a bend in the instruction manual, there isn't even a single one of those circle-holder-teeth in the jewel case missing. Goes without saying that there was also not 20 years of old cold smoke wiffing off of every inch of the thing. All that for 8€.

Love the Model 1 Sega CD with the Model 1 Genesis. Have you considered also buying the 32X as well, to complete the full Sega Tower of Power? You'll also have the "privilege" of playing those six amazing Sega CD 32X games like Slam City with Scotty Pippin and Corpse Killer. Ha! Privilege indeed if it's a Scotty Pippin game! I wouldn't be against getting a 32X and Sonic & Knuckles, if I ever come across them for the right price. I recently got Hardcore Gaming 101's "Japanese Video Game Obscurities" in the mail over the weekend. I totally forget I donated to the project, or even why I was getting not one, but TWO copies of the book in the mail. Cover art totally reminds me of an artist that did monthly art for a UK Nintendo 64 magazine, from 1990's. Great coffee table book, and I'm enjoying reading about all the old PC, Famicom, FM, MSX, etc stuff.

Despite the poor reputation Wonder Trading got in Gen. VI and VII, I've managed to get some pretty good Pokémon from Surprise Trading. I think letting it happen in the background was a good change. I mean, it's still mostly "junk" Pokémon getting traded, but I've occasionally gotten late game ones hatched from eggs but with the "wrong" nature or ones leveled quite a bit with the original trader deeming them no longer useful. I got one level 32 Linoone which makes me feel a little sad to see it traded away since it has a strong evolution now or it was a mistake which is equally sad. Best trade though was the pseudo-legendary out of an egg after the second gym. I think it's normally not available until after the sixth or seventh. (Some spoilers about it but nothing overly specific) It is absolutely garbage until it's first evolution at level 50 and doesn't even learn any moves before that. The excitement is from the boosted experience traded Pokémon get so it isn't as tedious to level. I've left it in party and it has parity with everything else. I immediately trade away pretty much everything I catch now since I have all the Pokémon I'll likely use. Really like the excitement from seeing what I'll get even if it turns out to be yet another Tympole. I just try again!

Normally I'd just stick this in the other thread, but considering his contributions to the genre...

I knew Hollow Knight was loved by a lot of people but I didn’t expect it to be this addictive. I am so incredibly late to the party but, damn... I am having such a blast exploring this strange world. The map system is really not my friend and seems unnecessarily complicated, but at the same time it makes exploration feel more dangerous and disorienting. Other Metroidvanias either have extremely clear map systems that takes away from the mystery a little bit, or absolutely no map at all. Hollow Knight is a good albeit slightly cumbersome middle ground...
Beat only two bosses so far and was just murdered brutally by the third boss... How hard does this game get further on? I’m excited but scared.

I'm not sure exactly which boss is second or third. Is third Hornet or the Mantis Lords? Hornet in particular was a notable early difficulty bump as far as bosses go. If you've succeeded against either of those, you will be generally fine with a similar degree of practice throughout the game.
Glad you're enjoying it so far. Hollow Knight and Hyper Light Drifter are probably my top two games of the past 5 years. I really enjoyed the map system personally; it required me to pay attention to the areas and learn where things are. Explorations into uncharted areas felt like suitably risky expeditions, which felt great. If you haven't been back to the surface yet, be sure to stop by the now-opened map shop and buy some of the upgrades.

Okay so they are giving us the Special Edition content as its own package but they didn't list WHAT games are in either set. "4 arcade titles in 7 versions", as in regional? Also they list 6 titles for console but the Japanese release doesn't? Am I missing something? To compare, Base game has these four games: Darius Darius II Sagaia Darius Gaiden Special Edition ties down the following: Darius Twin (Super Famicom) Darius Force (Super Famicom) Sagaia (SEGA Master System) Darius II (Mega Drive) Darius Alpha (PC Engine) I knew Hollow Knight was loved by a lot of people but I didn’t expect it to be this addictive. It’s Hornet, she’s killed me 5 times now but at least I’m learning her pattern... I think i’ll beat her before long - hopefully! It took me a while to understand how the map works (having to track down the map guy in each new area AND also resting on a bench in order to fill it in) but I’ve now bought everything from the map shop so things are looking brighter. This game is both extremely cozy and oddly unsettling at the same time. I think I love it.

UPDATE: I finally beat the Hornet boss and this attempt I managed to take no damage at all. If that isn’t good boss design I don’t know what is! You struggle for a while, dying over and over, and then it all suddenly clicks and you take 100% control over the situation and suddenly just slay! No luck involved, no coincidence whatsoever. Now I’m deep in the Fungal Wastes trying to figure out where I’m going, what I’m doing. So far this is a 10/10 game. Soooo much fun.

Doesn't seem like it.
As a collection, weird that there's no G-Darius or Dariusburst either just to round out the whole series.

Thanks I don't remember seeing that chart before. Also no digital Western release, so if you miss out on this you better pray that Taito provides it later (like what happened to Japanese version). Doesn't seem like it. As a collection, weird that there's no G-Darius or Dariusburst either just to round out the whole series. There's no Playstation versions in the Console side so I guessing M2 either doesn't have the licensing for Playstation emulation (for a Switch collection) or they weren't pleased by the emulation of it. DariusBurst would have added another $50-60 to the costs. Taito places a high value on this series. Worth playing if you find it on sale, ton of content in there.

Can I chime in say that limited print games(LRG,SLG,SR,SRG) are a cancer on the game industry? If you miss out on the physical, you will have to either import it from Japan or download it from the Japanese stores.
