What is Idea Factory's obsession with the Quest 64 battle system anyway? Of all of the battle systems to copy, they choose Quest!?!??!?!?!

Everyone seems to hate Idea Factory. How do they even manage to stay in business? I am truly perplexed.

Short answer: Neptunia.
Long answer: Their games are low budget and have their loyal fans, despite what it may seem.

Did anyone here ever play a Neptunia game? It’s another one of those franchises where the games seem impossible to keep track of. Hyperdimension this, Megadimension that. I wouldn’t know where to start (had I been interested in any of it, which I can’t say I am)

The other day I managed to complete the Mirror Grand Prix for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and get 3 stars in all of the cups, though I can't remember if I started that part in late December or earlier this month. So now I'm going back through and getting the stars in 150cc that I missed.

I'm excited about Doom Eternal - it's been a long while. The game looks really damned well-done. The powerup confetti that comes out of enemies is just the right touch to take it out of realism, in spite of the really killer graphics.

Now that's a random announcement. I did like what I played of the sequel/prequel KUF: Heroes though.

I wrapped up Metroid: Samus Returns at last. Which means I've now beaten all but one (Metroid II) 2D Metroid. It's not quite as good as the others I've played, but it's still worth a playthrough. It's just quite repetitive, not only because you fight the same bosses over and over, but also because there isn't that much going on in the world. It's just a couple of enemy types and some breakable blocks, mostly. Strangely enough it's probably the hardest Metroid I've yet played. Which isn't to say it's hard, but I died more than in other Metroid games. I think it's partially because you're not set back at all when you die, so there's no harm in trying to do a boss with little health. And I ended up with little health a lot because at a certain point I couldn't really be bothered with shooting every enemy anymore. In the end, it's not too bad, and the graphics are pretty impressive as far as mixing 2D tile-based gameplay with deep backgrounds is concerned. I wouldn't mind seeing a 2.5D Metroid on the Switch using a similar approach to graphics. Anyway, I finished it just in time, because I got Metroid Prime for my birthday this week. Very interested to see what all the fuzz is about with that one. Everyone seems to hate Idea Factory. How do they even manage to stay in business? I am truly perplexed. According to wikipedia they haven't put anything out since 2017, so they might not be for much longer. Unless no one's bothered to update their wiki page for two years.

It's the latter, they're constantly putting out a ton of games: Low to middle budget waifu games are their niche and it's doing pretty well for them, I think.

Hope you enjoy some Metroid Prime and crush it this weekend! I'm not really into FPS type games, but Metroid Prime at least managed to hold my interest to a certain point. It's been ages since I played it, but I recall it really feeling like Metroid, with all of its different elements, but translated into a 3-D world. But I also feel like I got stuck somewhere, and then it's all a blur from there.
