www.hardcoregaming101.net/escapefromhell/escapefromhell.htmA 1990 RPG published by Electronic Arts that takes place in hell. That reminds me - I swear when I was a kid I had this game for the Apple II called Where in Hell was Carmen Santiago? The name was obviously a ripoff of the educational series but had nothing to do with it otherwise. I can't find neither hide nor hair of it on the internet nowadays though.

So the developers made a game about trying to escape from an Electronic Arts development office? I guess it pays to draw on life.

"Through the game, you visit various locations through Hell." > was the first word meant to be "Throughout" (even that would be a nasty repetition)? "great thematic choice of Hell" > should be "great thematic choice if Hell"

Thanks. Fixed that up. Also discovered that the HTML zombie gobbled up all of the apostrophes somehow, which I readded back in. Hopefully I didn't miss any.

Not sure what the "empty chest" thing means, exactly. Does that happen at times, or do all chest remain empty after you open one that is ?

Yeah, I didn't get that either, actually, I should have mentioned it.

I reworded it a bit to what I think it meant - if you open a treasure chest, it will stay open even if you don't save the game. That means if you open a chest, don't save the game, then reload, that chest will still be open, so you effectively lose an item. I'm assuming this affects subsequent playthroughs as well. The author will have to clarify if this isn't the case.

You do lose the item and it does affect subsequent playthroughs. The revision clarifies things very well.

Apparently Richard Seaborne did another RPG called Tower of Myraglen, for the Apple2GS. There's a Let's Play of it here, if anybody's curious. This game seems especially nasty, since it puts a lava pit on floor ONE. (True, the game says don't go through the door that leads to it, but that's still pretty harsh!) Also, is anybody going to tackle Fountain of Dreams at any point? It's... it's not a fun game.

Fountain of Dreams is considered the pseudo-kinda-sorta sequel to Wasteland, right?

Fountain of Dreams takes place in the same universe as Wasteland, but that's a little hard to swallow. The story has to do with a biker gang of clowns taking over Florida after a nuclear disaster. There used to be rumors that you could import your Wasteland character into Fountain of Dreams, but I don't think they were true.

While the irony isn't lost on the whole EA thing, this truly looks like someone really did care and poured a lot of time and effort into this, and has that personal touch.
Something modern-day EA wouldn't stand for, by the way.
