www.hardcoregaming101.net/finalzone/finalzone.htmThis is one of those series that got its numbering messed up when they got localized. The first Final Zone was only for Japanese PCs. Final Zone II was released for the PC Engine/Turbografx-16 CD. Finally, the third game was released only as Final Zone when it was released in English for the Genesis, making it seem like it's the first entry, though it really isn't.

fwiw I've tried the copy I have in MESS and Takeda's emu and it works fine, at least regarding the invincibility part (can't really finish first level since that the game is really an unplayable mess).

I currently don't have access to my own Sharp files, but the MESS softlists have two different Final Zone images listed. Also FWIW,according to Telenet's old page, that port was released in December (the article says November).

I've noticed that in general, a lot of Telenet/Renovation/Riot/Wolfteam games tend to be interesting ideas that are fun for a while, but are just missing something I can't put my finger on.
I actually liked a lot about the Genesis Final Zone, but something just felt loose and unrefined about it and brings the experience down a peg.

I never found that set the MESS list knows as fzonea, all I found was another look at the game that also never found any fully working disk images. But then again, both X1 and MESS are rather useless search terms...

Holy crap, the US cover for Final Zone on the Genesis is really badass. Reminds me a LOT of EXO Squad.
