Article doesn't seem to display right in the (admittedly old) version of Firefox I prefer to use. Skips from PCE cover to "view all "Riot Zone" items on ebay US" skipping all the text of the article among other issues. Renders fine in Chrome, though. Other articles recent articles I've looked at still show up fine.

Decent? It has even fewer moves than Final Fight did. There's only one jump attack, (FF had jump, down + attack to start a combo), there's no Grab & pummel or Chain combo into throw. No weapons. Compare that with the benchmark game for the genre, Double Dragon, which had 10 moves and 6 weapons.

The enemies looks pretty amusing and the decayed backgrounds have some atmosphere, I think as a game it is just too boring to bother with, the only possible use for Riot City would be source of assets, since the game is so obscure no-one has ripped & recycled the graphics yet in another game.

This reminds me of how I first played the PCE-CD version on Virtual Console, then later found an arcade beatemup with the same name on MAME, but assumed their relation to be some crazy coincidence since neither game looked anything alike and had different characters.
