Source: www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3154499All three compilations are apparently scheduled for release in Japan this January. Here's the tenative line-up. Salamander Collection+ Salamander + Life Force + Salamander 2 + Xexex (uh?) + a secret game Parodius Collection+ Parodius Da! + Gokujou Parodius + Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius + Sexy Parodius + a secret game TwinBee Collection+ TwinBee + Deta Na!! TwinBee + TwinBee Yahho If I had to guess, I'd say the secret game for Parodius Collection is probably either Paro Wars or the original MSX Parodius. I've got no idea about Salamander Collection, but considering they're throwing in Xexex (of all things), it might be something equally weird, like Scramble or Gyruss. Anyway, it appears Gradius Portable/Collection was very well-received for this to happen. And I can't say how I glad I am that the PSP is region-free, just in case any of these (Parodius in particular) don't make it across the Pacific.

It irritates me when almost all the good PSP games are port/remakes/collections but god help me I want that Parodius Collection ><
Please Konami, announce a PS2 version, I don't want to spend 250$ for a PSP ><

Nice, but the crappy PSP d-pad really kinda hurt the Gradius Collection. I'd prefer PS2 as well.
Oh well. We're getting a real Xexex port, which is worth it in itself.

I don't own a PSP yet but have several games for it. I love how all of them are games that are at least ten years old.

*squeals like a little schoolgirl* A TwinBee collection? Rock on! :) Even though I already own all of the TwinBee (with the exception of the first one, ironically), this is still mega-cool. How was the Gradius collection? Were they straight emulations of the arcade games or not? I don't really care for the TwinBee Deluxe Pack much since they weren't reworked into home console games, thus they still have their quarter-munching gameplay intact and with unlimited continues there's no difficulty unless you choose to limit yourself. That's why I still prefer to play Detana on PC Engine, and Yahho I haven't played much at all. Also, I don't know about shooters on PSP much, but is it possible to play them with the screen flipped like in tate mode for TVs? I know the Wonderswan could do that. Obviously, it's not a problem for horizontal stuff like Gradius and Parodius, but it would sure be nice for TwinBee. I don't like the screen stretching in the Deluxe Pack, and I don't especially like the really slim screen either.

All the games on Gradius Collection are faithful arcade ports (except Gradius Gaiden, which was a PlayStation game to begin with), but since they've got limited continues, the challenge is well intact.
As for screen-flipping, Capcom enabled this for the vertical shooters on Capcom Classic Collection Remixed, so I don't know why Konami wouldn't do the same for Salamander and TwinBee.

Hmmm, sounds good. I'll feel more confident in saying I truly "beat" the games if the developer's themselves came up with a set number of continues that they believe are reasonable.
How does it feel to play a vertical shooter on the PSP with it flipped on its side? Is it comfortable?

...Three more reasons for me to get a PSP.
I still need about 5 more to warrant buying a PSP, though.

The truth is that the developers want you to limit by yourself, and that the only "reasonable" way to play arcade games is with only one credit per go and player. That's the reason why you have a preset amount of lifes/energy per credit. The continue option is just a marketing resort.
If you're one of those (like me) who lose all the interest in playing a game once you see the ending, try to never use more than one credit. It's the only 'true' way.

Will Parodius ever make it to the US. This holds a good chance. All that konami needs to do now is make a Contra collection and Castlevania collection for the PSP.
