7-Up, I understand, is now an independent company and has to contract with bottlers in individual areas. I can still find 7-Up in grocery stores here in Oregon, and I'll admit that I really miss the Spot mascot...and Orlando Jones, for that matter, who was pretty amazing in the movie Evolution. =P
On a random, unrelated note, is Colin Curly still the mascot for those Quavers snacks in the UK? I mainly remember him for being in a couple of Amiga games (Pushover and One Step Beyond)...

You can still find 7-Up, as it turns out. I actually found a lot of it at my Wal-Mart. It even comes in cherry flavor. Considering how much I like cherry stuff, that made me pretty happy.

And now I don't think 7-Up even advertises in the US anymore. (or maybe it's just where I am, maybe that's because locally Pepsi replaced it with the IMO inferior Sierra Mist, so restaurants don't serve it anymore. Haven't seen one since they stopped the crude humor commercials with the one black guy. Only saw it on youtube but the one where the machine hunts down people and shoots cans at their nuts "to serve customers as conveniently as possible" is awesome. ) I'm pretty sure it's the case as well here in Argentina, although I'm pretty sure they still do sell it over here. Sprite's kicking their asses, though. And thankfully, since IMO Sprite is much better. 7-Up, I understand, is now an independent company and has to contract with bottlers in individual areas. Dunno why.

No, I don't think he lasted past the 90s. Speaking of Sprite, as of this year you can't buy the original stuff in the UK. It's all sweetened with stevia now, which has a really nasty aftertaste. 7-Up is still the same, though it's made by Britvic here now rather than Pespi.

I still see 7-Up at the grocery store, just not the ads (as I guess the distributor here is the one who sells A&W, Sunkist and RC, which are also never advertised).
I thought they also made Dr. Pepper, which is available and I still see the ads constantly. Dr. Pepper used to be served in restaurants that served Pepsi (like a Wendy's near me used to serve Pepsi before they switched to Coke), but yet Dr. Pepper is now widely available in Coke restaurants (the McD and BKs near me), yet it's not bottled by Coke either. (still sold at the grocery store in Pepsi-style packaging)

Dr. Pepper is also an independent company now, I think. Many restaurants in my area get the licenses for Dr. Pepper alongside whatever major bottler they choose.

I couldn't tell, but the article seemed to forget to mention that the SNES version of Cool Spot had one or more extra levels.
