Tomato officially dropped Tomato Adventure because the script was far larger than what he was willing to spend time on. He did Mother 3 because it just had to be done, he did Mother 1 because it was easy to hack, but he didn't do Mother 2 because he felt it would be too much work than what he can afford to do between his professional work.

I think Tomato, who headed the Mother 3 translation, started working on it a number of years ago, though I think it's probably on indefinite hiatus at this point. It looks quite good. As for the DnS games, I don't think it'd be that necessary? Seems like most fan translation groups are more concerned about translating more text-heavy games. I would imagine the DnS games wouldn't be too hard for someone with no knowledge of Japanese outside of some of the quiz stuff, which are already covered in guides, I think. The thing with DnS series is that the story and the dialogues is one of its charming points. At least judging from the DnS 5 which was localized for America (but for a weird reason not for Europe) which was also unexpectably touching. And I heard from some fans that the 5th game was the weakest of the series. But since I never played the older games I found the 5th one of the most beautiful platform games I've ever played.

Densetsu no Stafy 1 is stirring up some interest from translators. As for me, I'd say all of them are worth a shot. Stafy 1 and 2 are the more challenging games in the series (2 has more polish, and is my personal favorite with 4), 3 brings more originality but still is marred by its low difficulty (aside from the secret final boss). The fourth game is the one really needing translation since it has the riddles (which are crucial to unlock the entire second, more challenging half of the game), and it has more co-op puzzles and interesting levels if not tedious at times, but its music is awful. The fifth is good in its own right, easily the most innovative one, but I'd say it's like the Twinbee Yahoo of the Stafy series: enjoyable yet feeling painfully short (most of the alternate path aspect of the earlier games is gone). And I regret there weren't more challenging levels like World 10 levels as it used to be the case with alternate paths in earlier Stafy games (that ninth world was utterly pointless: a single level could have been enough for it). And the reason the fifth one wasn't localized might have to do with the cutscenes being videos. Layton games in Europe have different versions per language because of this and its videos aren't even as text-heavy as this one. I'd be interested in Custom Robo GBA in English though... It was slated on NoA's 2003 E3 lineup with Kururin Paradise (the second one), Tetra Trackers and Ao no Tengai for US release yet... something happened that year (also, an iQue Chinese localization for Majora Mask was cancelled). I wonder if there's still English copies floating around somewhere, somehow.. As for Mother II GBA, who would want that one seriously? It has horrendous music, glitches, bad resolution, censorship (JP GBA script nixed a lot of instances of toilet humor and some other stuff) and has absolutely no extras or redeeming features over the SNES original. At least Ganbare Goemon I+II GBA added at least a character select: THAT one could use an English translation (the SFC Goemon 2 project is dead though )
