I really need to sit down and play 4 heroes, since the concept looked great, but seemed like the reception was pretty poor. My problem with 4 Heroes was the level scaling and the unnecessary difficulty in the first half of the game due to splitting the party up. Often you only have two or fewer party members and gaining levels never seems to help you any due to the enemies level scaling. I don't mind games preventing you from level grinding, but I shouldn't feel punished for completing random encounters. I don't know perhaps I wasn't playing the game properly? Loved the art design in the game though. I've got the collectors edition of Bravely on order. Might play through the demo today as I here it serves as a prologue to the game proper. Kind of sad that Square wouldn't risk publishing this game themselves over here. But hey we get FFXIII-3 and talk of FFX-3!

I have 4 Heroes backlogged, so I already paid the price of admission. May as well give it a shot.

talk of FFX-3![/quote] What...? No. NO! Didn't everyone hate FFX-2? Why do they have to keep destroying my dream game?! edit: (Seems I messed up the quote again...)

I really liked X-2, but there was really no need for it to be made. Even less for a X-3 game.

I'm pretty sure FFX was nomitated the most popular entry in the series at one point in Japan, so that would explain X-2 and the prospect of X-3 in case the HD-Version sells well. Thought I think SE said recently that the spinoffs like Dissidia are a lot more well known in Japan's youth now. Which makes sense, since they are on their prefered portable platforms and the last good main title came out a decade ago.

I'm pretty sure that nothing has dethroned FFVII's status as the most popular FF anywhere, or ever will.

For what it's worth, of the modern Final Fantasy's, I like X the best too. Also, when it comes to sales and recognition, VIII and VII don't have a very different reception in Japan; they're pretty close to each other.
In Daringly Template news, what's with the brou-ha-ha over the deleted/altered costumes and dialogue? Are people seriously that upset that originally 15 or 16-year-olds are wearing racy clothing and firing off sexual innuendoes? There probably wasn't a day in my life as a teenager when I DIDN'T make some off-color sexual talk with friends. Like, who on earth still thinks to this day that 15/16-year-olds are cherubic angels who never have sex until the day they turn 18? How is not okay to prefer the original costumes and somehow makes you sound like a pedophile, and yet people enjoy videos and material like Party in the USA, Genie in a Bottle or ...Baby One More Time? How is it okay to enjoy Teen Wolf or Skins and not this?
I mean, I guess some people are confused with chibi/super-deformed illustration and graphical methods, but that's just dumb. It's obvious from what they do and say taht the characters in Bravely Default are not children.
It's also a really nasty double standard that the girl's costumes got changed, but Ringabel's costume is entirely deleted, it would seem. If that's really the case, it's really not fair, gender-wise.

It's just a part of America's Puritanical roots. You can kill people and dismember them until the cows come home, but you can't admit that teenagers have a sexual side. Plus, it's kind of pervy.

I really do not understand why people get up in arms when game graphics are de-sexualized as if it's corrupting the artistry of it or something.
The characters are 18 now!?! THIS IS A FUCKING OUTRAGE
they replaced a character's weird bondage outfit with a shirt WHAT THE FUCK, AMERICA

Censorship is censorship, and those costumes are really tame compared to some of the content in Compile Heart games that was more understandably censored for the US (i.e. Neptunia mkII's infamous monster-on-loli licking scene and Mugen Souls' loli bathing minigames).
Before the similar censorship of Fire Emblem Awakening, I was under the false impression that NOA's Puritanical streak ended in the SNES era. I'm triple not buying this now.

There's something to be said for not showing everything at times. I have absolutely no problem with that edit. If anything, it seems better.
