looks good. Im going to kickup a tumblr to not bloat any forums or so, and post the key releases up here. You should try a USB IDE connector hard drive thing, and see if you can mount the files on maybe another mac or drivers on windows, either way good to see we now have the entire disk for prosperity.

We're doing what we can. Not many people are interested in finding those games, so there's not a lot of activity around here (or even on 4chan). Maybe one day we'll find someone who has what we're looking for, but that probably won't happen any time soon.

So uh I have a big workload come in (comes in bulk, randomly), when Im done with it I will finish the game. I have finished the 'mid-heaven tablet' and about 20% in scrubbing the text for the game. Then I have to align the text, by taking screenshots of all inserted new text and logging the differences I have to make inside 'Macromedia Director 4' Ill have as many loose ends I can count done by others as this is happening, including a bug fix where you always see Suinshin sleeping. I figured out how the codec works to a tee, And only have to photoshop 24 frames, of which half are no brainers. Theres a whole lot of other polish the game didnt have which makes it even cooler. Im probably going to put it up on youtube for about 2 weeks just so A: It has a place to exist rightfully and B: I want to put other works up, for self pleasure as a hobby and well, i'm sure theres others that will like the cut of the jib.
Ill probably release the isos instead of a patch, if i get a correspondence for some sort of cease and desist, the first thing i will ask them is a copy of roly poly. But really the guy does corporate videos and advertisements, why the hell hasnt he ported his stuff to GOG, steam, or anything else. Even a remake of LSD (which is being fan done and released this year) would make him monies. I think he considers this to be his past.
Good times

Osamu Sato probably doesn't care that people have been pirating/editing/making stuff based on his work. I'm sure he's happy that his work is receiving more recognition and that people are enjoying it.
Asking for a copy of either Roly Poly game wouldn't do you any good, because Sato's never shown interest in giving away personal copies of his work, and contacting him is useless since he almost never responds to emails. There are probably a few thousand copies out there (same for Garage), so all we need is some foreign assistance and we'll be on the right track. Hopefully the search will return something.

*gulp*
I have a mac performa too and would like to see it run at its normal speed, always have problems with dosbox..emulators.. Thanks for the spot, all this goes into a vault of goodness, to sell when i have an intolerable heroin addiction.
Jokes aside, still have the Tong-Nou for PC in japanese we dont have yet. For super complete purposes. Im sure to rip the mac version for basilisk emulation or so. Also, i think the mac version of tong nou didnt come in a super extreme boxing to just hold a CD, but the PC version of tong nou in japanese followed suit too. I dont get it. but anyhow, this disk looks complete with everything it came with retail. Good spot my friend. Scan all those inlays and stuff too.

It's actually the other way around. Tong Nou Mac came in a large box, while the Windows version had the standard CD case. The US version probably came in a large box only. But yeah, I don't understand the logic behind it either.

Nar i have eastern mind, its definitely the one in a big box and is the windows version. the CD doesnt have a carboard sleeve around it, inside the box like chu teng for windows and mac. I cracked open mine from the shrinkwrap to keep the disc in its own plastic case, I know this. There are pictures of the box art in japanese, where all all mac copies have its simple cardboard sleeve to it. Where are you getting this from?

Pictures of Tong Nou on the current OSD site show the big box Mac version (says CD-ROM for Macintosh on top). Images of the Japanese Windows version on Amazon.co.jp show the game in a cardboard sleeve which says "CD-ROM for Windows 3.1" in the lower right corner. The US Windows version comes in a big box, but I'm not sure about the US Mac version. Here's a comparison of both Japanese releases:

Eh it doesnt show anything about it saying its the mac version. I have on good authority that the mac version doesnt have any boxing at all.. And no listings for the mac version say its only missing the cardboard sleeve if that itself is missing, and others say its 100% complete with it. By the way you sound like a creepypasta.
Youre referring to the PC version, which i said was the one that came with the box, not the mac version.
Anyway will scan the english manual of the game when it comes, that too hasnt seen the light of day.

Edited my last post to include a comparison between Tong Nou releases. Hopefully this will put a pointless argument to rest. In other news, I've been saving entire Osamu Sato-related websites to my hard drive in case the active sites disappear or the Web Archive goes down. It's not much, but I think it's a good way to preserve history. I have also created a disk image of the Art of Computer Designing Gift Disk: docs.google.com/file/d/0BwmH6bC8hccdZ1RqNEEzVFZod3c/edit?pli=1Also included are Disk Copy and Stuffit Expander, which are necessary for running the disk in a Mac emulator. If you need a tutorial, I'll try to make one whenever possible. I might as well inform /vr/ about this since some people were interested.

Well snap. The box is huge and ridiculous either way.
..the international PC version definitely did not have a cardboard band around it. Looks like the boxes were made for all versions, and the cardboard band wasnt made for the international version around the cd itself. Its just weird i dont know. Chu teng got no lush oversized box.
If a thread comes up on /vr/ by all means, but its been a bit of a faster board recently and well.. Theyll find it here. Good work on capturing the disk..
Ive been playing with an old mac from the 2000's era, and using basilisk it runs just the same as a performa. You will need a PowerPC mac, G3/G4/G5 and run OS 10.4 - 10.4.11 on it, and you can run all those old mac games natively through the more modern OS. The are super cheap and can have a modern purpose besides running retro things.
You can always use basilisk on PC or any MAC, but when it has access to the actual PowerPC chipset, it doesnt have any speed problems at all and does it perfectly. Bit of a stretch to just buy it to make one game run great, but if you retro real hard it is worthwhile.. Its actually just the first mac ive ever owned, next to an imac thats now a fishbowl. But if you do buy one, fill it with glorious RAM. dat ram.
Much more versatile to buy one for around a hundred bucks and have it run a relatively new version of the OS that macs use today so it makes way for usual suspects. do it. dooo it. do it.
Half way with de-engrishing the chu-teng text, bounties abound for fixing bugs still and photoshop work is organised. Got a newgen scanner coming (80 bucks and kills my 3 year old 300 dollar one, epson something such) too and screen calibration equipment im overdue in getting for my new screens.
Ala fun times.

Here is my software and music collection of mr sato. It all started out going "hory shet i want a copy of LSD" and came across a flash auction of it brand new (wat) and baught it for less than they are going for on ebay. I kept my radar open for anything else to add to his collection since I got the motherload, and havent failed. I just realise i have tong nou japanese for windows, i have it for mac too but i am missing the cardboard cover for it. It isn't hard to find, I will get around to it. so here is: LSD DE, brand new Chu Teng mac, vg++ Chu Teng win, mint used Tong Nou jap pc, mint used Tong nou pc, brand new Linen Sampler Ver 1.0, vg++, spotted in some electronics store in amsterdam, is a CDR with higher quality with some early works of Osamu Sato with a biography Equal music CD, brand new Transmigration, vg++/mint LSD and remixes brand new I also have the dream journal brand new, promotional material, flyers, fan books, the art of computer designing x2, alphabetical animals a3 book 500 pressing, other playstation games he made, and a knot of osamu satos pubes. And a few extra copies of tong nou and lsd, and the journal (they are raggedly loved), and super rare equal on promotional not for sale vinyl. The copies of Chu Teng stemmed from the attention of /vr/, adverted attention to it that i otherwise wouldn't have, so decided to fan translate it, put in a couple of hundred bucks to my friends in hokkaido, and let it be enjoyed. I managed to get both the mac AND windows version, and I guess they are pretty silly rare? bayfiles.net/file/15E7X/6YkItm/tongnoujappc.7zWith the added english mac version of eastern mind I think I am pretty complete with his software, besides dreary roly poly which is a kids game and doesn't look like it wants to be discovered any time soon.
