Capcom's been kinda shit for a while now, no real surprises here.
I wish they'd release the RE Outbreak games on Steam or something though.

What about that upcoming game, Deep Down? Looks a little like something that might not suck completely. I doubt it's gonna set the sales charts on fire though.
Capcom had Flagship. And they had Clover. Those were the days.

I wish they'd release the RE Outbreak games on Steam or something though. No, but a new PC version of Resident Evil 4 will be released on Steam next month. Apparently it will be what the first PC port should have been 7 years ago, so €19,99 for a 10 years old game is still a bit too much. And it's going to take 15 gigs of disk space...

Considering that Capcom and Konami tend to get mentioned together as companies whose graves are ready to be danced on, there's just a bit of a wry smirk to the knowledge that the only Konami game people have even shown a REMOTE bit of interest to in the past couple years was developed by ex-Capcom employees.

A mobile phone version of SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters with social media features would be neat. Unfortunately that will never happen. Just like we will never see a fine mobile phone version of a monster duel rpg a la Pokemon without being turned into a crappy social game like My Monster: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobage.ww.a479.MyMonsterRancher&hl=elI don't know what kind of games are the Digimon and Medabot games which were released for mobile phones since they are Japan only. Situations like these are the best answers for idiots who insist that Nintendo should abandon the hardware market and start focusing at the mobile phone gaming. That being said, I'd wait until this story was broken again and at a more reliable news outlet instead of taking Sancrapu Complex's word for it. I'm surprised they didn't say that it's women's or feminists' fault that Capcom is wanting to do more social games...I mean I'm not exactly a white knight here but shit, those guys are deluded misogynists. But male audience also play social games. Blame the casualfriends! Blame the casualfriends! Just kidding. Blame Crapcom. By the way I'm suprised that there are people who still visit Sankaku Complex, expecially for video games news. Capcom had Flagship. And they had Clover. Those were the days. You know what's the irony? Despite not having the sales they expected with Okami at PS2 not only they made a Wii port and a PS3 HD port but a DS sequel as well. Speaking for Flagship I miss them for the great Nintendo games they have made, expecially the Zelda ones.

Also, Capcom? Where the hell's my PC port of Dragon's Dogma? And you better get the guys who did DmC's PC port: whatever else, that was a damn fine porting job.

Nearly posted a whole long list of Namco games developed over the years, but then I realized... ... Namco's not Konami...

I guess I should give them some credit - it was awesome to see they managed to write a story that didn't involve calling a voice actress or idol singer a whore.

Konami needs to start translating their rhythm games and give Powerful Pro a chance overseas (if people were exposed to it as regularly as Japanese were, I'm sure it would build up a faithful audience, as there's nothing like it elsewhere), and start doing more than just licensed Japanese games again with some overseas licenses. I'm not sure what it is with publishers lately being so reticent to translate their games. The problems with the yen to dollar or euro are not what they once were, so what gives, I wonder?

Capcom won't die as long as they still have both the huge brand recognition allowing them to make even crap games big sellers (see: Resident Evil 6), Monster Hunter, and the occasional game that's actually decent. Even if they become incapable of competing in the console space, they'll just move on to systematically destroying their franchises by turning them into shitty social mobile games (see: Breath of Fire 6).

Power Pro bombed in its US form, as far as I can tell. They gave it two releases. I thought PP 2008's gameplay was decent, but success mode felt like it was pretty luck based. After two underwhelming receptions, they pulled the plug. As far as their rhythm games, IIDX just wasn't going to catch on mass-market over here. I know that when they did try to bring it over, they brought it over in bastardized form (same with juBeat on iOS, actually), and they were pretty much "damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't", because if they'd have just straight up published untouched IIDX styles, the people who already imported them weren't going to lay the money down to buy it again... But in handling it the way they did, they made the people who kept asking for it feel insulted for being given a changed product.

Monster Hunter along with Ace Attorney are the only francises that they haven't fuck up...yet. Still Ace Attorney has shitty treatment outside Japan: Gyakuten Kenji 2 was never localized and Dual Destinies barely made it with a digitalized release instead of retail because "Ace Attorney doesn't sells anymore". And let's not forget about Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright which was released in Japan at 29 November 2012 and after maaaaaaaany delays they will finally localize it at 29 March 2014 (in Europe at least, I don't know about its american release date). Seriously, games with smaller and more niche market like Project X Zone made it faster at their localizations. Konami also had their chance with QuitarFreaks but they never bothered. And that's how Harmonix took the chance and createad Guitar Hero which became the huge hit we all know (and being fucked up in the end by Activision but that's another story).

Mega Man 10. The last time this once great company gave a shit about its fans. Need I say more? Putting out Mega Man 9 and 10 after the awesome Powered Up was a real cop-out.
