Dale, you can order a new gameboy player disc off of Nintendo's website for like $15. Just go to the store page for parts and repairs and they have it there. As far as scratches go, if you have Hollywood Video's in your area the Game Crazy's inside all have resurface machines to resurface your discs. After repaired they almost have no sign that they were ever used at all. I recommend it very much.

Also, in reference to the topic, I think the best way to play GBA games is with an old DS with the game on the top screen because it has stereo sound, ability to use headphones, clear bright screen, comfortable system to hold and good button placement or with a Gameboy Player using a PS2 to GC controller adapter or one of those Hori SNES-shaped retro controllers (the regular Gamecube controller while good for the Gamecube specific games just isn't as comfortable for these kind of games probably due to the pressure sensative shoulder buttons, crappy D-pad, and lack of a select button).
