Well, do we? It's out like tomorrow, I think.
I dunno. It's The Big Xbox 360 game this season so I have it preordered, but I never got a chance to play it, so I'm not sure what to think. Hell, I've never even seen any ingame footage. I guess it's really nice looking? It's positioned as the "Halo killer" despite the designers vehemently proclaiming it's much more strategic. I'm guessing this means it's more like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfight. In which case, that would be a very good thing.
The press seems to love it - but then again, the press also seems to love Resistance and that game is crap. So that doesn't mean much to me.

Undecided is the answer for now. Its release sure is exciting, though, mainly because of how fricking amazing it looks. For me, it's one of two reasons I've seen to be excited for the 360 so far, not counting future releases. Oblivion's the other, but my computer runs it just fine so it wasn't a system seller.
The gameplay looks interesting, though I don't know how long it will hold up over the course of a 12-15 hour game. I mean, how many times can you duck under cover and fire, really? The way I see it, apart from the obvious graphics, traditional FPSes are popular because it gives you freedom to run around and blow crap up. It doesn't seem like you get that in this game, since it's supposed to be more methodical and strategic. Kinda like Rainbow Six without the weapon customizability and more gore, I guess.
Either way, I'm really anxious to see how this game reviews and to hear people's reactions.

John Romero use to be a lot of peoples favourite.
On topic, I haven't tried it either and I don't really trust the creator to deliever that much, I like UT's so there's a plus but I don't want to get hyped about the game too much. It'll be the app for 360 but that's because it's main competition (In terms of Exclusives) is Dead Rising, some crappy Dynasty Warrior clone, a GTA clone and some crappy version of Splinter Cell.

That thing's an FPS? FPSes and consoles never mix, except if you have a mouse converter. Seriously, an analog stick will never be precise enough!

It's got the re4 control scheme. And chainsaw guns!

I thought it was an overhead kind of game...though I can't see an re4 control scheme working with a game with shitlods of aliens coming after you....then again maybe it will.
I'll just watch Kurt play it before I decide.

That thing's an FPS? FPSes and consoles never mix, except if you have a mouse converter. Seriously, an analog stick will never be precise enough! First off it's not a first person game, second, there's all kinds of good console FPS that play great. PC games sloppily ported to a console however.... Either way the game looks rad. It's more strategic than Halo but don't expect Ghost Recon levels up task assignment. It's most comparable to the underrated Kill.Switch. It's all about diving from piece of cover to piece of cover. In cooperative play you can have one guy fire blind (you can stay under cover and basically hold the gun around an edge via your outstretched arms, just spraying out fire without aiming at all) at an entrenched group to keep them distracted while another player sneaks up behind them and uses the chainsaw on them. Also soundtrack by Jesper Kyd. Resistance really does seem like crap. The level design doesn't do anything for me. It's all either huge open spaces with nothing going on or you're in a metal hallway. I really like Gears of Wars' art direction by comparison (figures that E3 artbook is part of the contents of the collector's edition). It has this sweeping gothic grandeur to it that's uncommon for a game of this kind (these 3D third person shooters not exactly being a favorite genre of mine). Also the protagonists are straight out of Necromunda so I'm down. I'm definitely going to get it but probably not until closer to the Christmas (or possibly even after Christmas) due to the Wii coming out.

It's like Killswitch!!!?....SOLD! Man I love Killswitch, that game could have been so much more. "CliffyB," the primary designer, always mentions Killswitch eighty billion times when talking about Gears of War. It seems to be what Killswitch could have been yet was not.

Yeah, I was going to say the reason why I want to play this game is because it reminds me of a next-gen Time Crisis, but I did a little bit of research and found out that Namco did something that Gears of War demonstrates with Kill.Switch. I'm going to get the game a little bit later than you guys, since I have to wait for my copy to be shipped from Play-Asia. Nice thing about it is that the Asian version's 20 dollars cheaper than over here.

Cliff B was Inspired by RE4, this game takes a lot of elements from Killswitch and RE4. I saw a few vids at E3 and it had the Over sholder camera like RE4. I cant wait to see the reviews, or play a demo, but Im still waiting to play a demo of Dead Rising

I think Gears of War will be good. If it is awesome, I might start saving for the system. I really want the XB 360 to give Sony a run for their money this time around so I think they need all the good games they can get.
